I don't see the iPhone moving to Tmobile or Sprint. Tmobile's tech is similar to current AT&T, but tmobile tends to behind the curve in updating their network, compared to other carriers, so getting a next gen network isn't going to happen with them any time soon. Going to Sprint would be like moving to Verizon right now, on their old network.

The reason Verizon is appealing to Apple right now is that Verizon is the only one who's rolling out LTE for use by the time the next gen iPhone is ready. I think Apple is going to move, and Verizon is the only practical option.
@shotta While not terribly important, it's actually AAPL.
@Brian Yeah, and for that matter, with most movies I'm not really interested in watching them more than the one time. Most movies end up on my shelf, and therefore, most movies have simply been coming out of Redbox.

I gather that studios are only going to put about 3 months worth of effort for any film following it's release. BD-Live seems like a smart idea, until you look at it from the studio side: "Wait, we've already sold the majority of copies we're going to sell, and you want us to spend *more* money on it?"
I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to see what this thing feels like in my hands. I'd buy one in an instant, but I'm getting closer and closer to simply throwing the towel in an buying a Sony 505 for myself. I've been borrowing my Dad's on and off for weeks...

B&N really fumbled on this one. It's a shame too, because this looks to be a really impressive device. Hopefully someone will eventually be able to touch one.

I'm sorry, I thought you wanted *customers* to read your material. If you want publishers to read it, it'll take quite a lot more work. See, they don't even accept unsolicited manuscripts...

I have great doubts about this device's ability to succeed. It doesn't sound like they're providing anything that any other device does, except ads. Even if the price is much lower than other competitors in the market, They're going to be late to the game, with yet another standard format. I'll still with my 505, thanks.
I'm in the surrounding area of Portland, and I don't have this feature available yet. It's a shame, because I really would like to take a look at this and know how I'm doing.

I'm blown away that some of you can move through so much bandwidth. What on earth are you doing?
I download a lot of video, and we watch all of our TV online. We haven't been bugged by a call yet...
I was really disappointed to find the Sony Reader Pocket edition comes in Silver, Pink and Purple. The Pocket is a good product, but Sony clearly laid out the gender-lines by doing so. I realize that this is a little petty, but I don't want to carry around a Pink or Purple device - I'm a guy, and I want something with a normal color (and I'm not a fan of the silver). I don't want Camo, I don't want to put monster-truck stickers on it.

The Touch edition comes in better colors, but has it's own problems. The 505 really was a wonderful device, I don't know why they couldn't have focused on improving that, instead we got a retool of the PRS-700, a feature-burned version of the 505, and an awkwardly-sized wireless device. After waiting a month to see what Sony came out with, checking it all out in the store, I bought my Dad a 505 that was on sale at Fry's.

The Nook, I will be waiting to see for myself on the 30th. If I like it, sign me up for one, Otherwise, I'm going to send my wife out to get another 505 for me. It continues to impress me for being a 2 year old device. It turns out I don't need wireless to read books...
I run 10.5.8 on My Dell Vostro A90. It works great. My only complaint is that the screen is too small for some of the dialog boxes. Solid little machine though, installation is a snap.
Apple has a choice when they work on their OS. They can plug holes to prevent hackers from making their software work on non-Apple devices, or they can work on something that's going to make their OS better. As the hacker problem is really a very small one, they are probably less likely to spend time and money on that and instead work on more important things.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
