No disrespect to the Popcorn Hour, as it's definitely in a niche of their own with the low price point and feature set, but it's seriously lacking in presentation in their user interface among other issues. Even the build quality on the thing screams of cheap "Made in China" plastics, as the remote looks like some generic remote mold from some odd-end factory. That being said, it is very affordable and does the job admirably, but the presentation is lacking enough for me to just stick with XBMC.

What I'm hoping that Kodak can figure out though, is to not just stream media but also how they present it. Will it be able to scrape film or television information? Can I add playlists? It supports HD, but does the menu do its best to exemplify this?

That's my gripe with many of the players I have seen so far. What would make me want to spend $150+ or way more than that while a refurbished Microsoft Xbox w/ Xbox Media Center might be able to offer a better experience? I'm not suggesting that Xbox Media Center doesn't have its fair share of problems - because it does.. But I feel many of the commercial products need to take some of the things that have made it a success and up the ante and make something better for a overall better product.
As with all you of there, I've been waiting to hear more about this sub-notebook for quite a while.

I'd reckon that most of these mini notebooks have comparable performance (or will sooner or later) with almost the exact same specs, but since I'll be moving to Asia for a job soon, the HSDPA is a big plus for me.

The ECS G10IL was definitely the best looking of the bunch.. Very impressive, considering the price range, and the early build of things. My only complaint, as another has highlighted is that the quality seems to have diminished. What happened to the gloss finish!!

Did anyone else notice that underneath the trackpad on the white one that it was missing buttons for clicking? That's odd.. I hope this will be addressed soon.

I already own an Eee PC, but I'll be waiting out for this one for 2-3 more months before I jump to an MSI Wind or Eee 1000.
This thing is impressive! I was edging towards the HTC Touch Diamond got a while now (since it's been officially announced), but this thing seems rather enticing. Specification-wise, definitely trumps the Touch Diamond.. But I'd like to know other things, such as battery life and what type of touch screen it uses..

But wow.. Amazing.
I may be mistaken, but I recall reading an article that said there actually would be an SSD option. It would apparently also lengthen battery life on it as well versus the standard hard disk option.

I'd have to agree with another poster above. If the ECS G10IL doesn't release anytime soon, I think this is the route to go in terms of ultra-portable laptops. I'm a bit disappointed there hasn't been any news trickling in on the unit, because I'm pretty excited for the HSDPA feature in it since I'll be in Hong Kong for the next few years and 3G being cheap and affordable there.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
