@j0sh1130 What justind said. The best way to use it is getting an MCE remote, having it open on boot and you're good to go with a media center on your TV. It doesn't have much support for broadcast TV yet but I'm sure it'll come eventually.
@j0sh1130 It works great as media center software. XBMC is the software and you install it on whatever system you want. If you're looking for a dedicated system to run it on next to your TV, the best bet is something Intel Atom + Nvidia Ion based, most likely the cheapest option available. Systems like the Asrock ION 330, Asus eeeBox EB1501 and various Acer Aspire Revo systems are ideal.
An Asus EeeBox EB1501. Well, I will when it arrives from Taiwan! I ordered it a bit late, oops.
No ION no purchase.
Although this does look damn nice I've got an ASUS Eee Box EB1501 en route to me and I think whilst it is slightly larger it does have the DVD drive built in and it's not exactly large at all! Especially since I was picking between the EB1501 and the Asrock ION 330.
@Almo O2 3G coverage is shocking. I moved from T-Mobile to O2 and I was really shocked at how poor it was in comparison. Pretty much everywhere I regularly went I was always cracking on with HSDPA using T-Mobile, with O2 I'm always dropping back onto EDGE and often GPRS. It's not good enough.
@Joylove FreeviewHD is now available (where I am anyway, NW), just a shame there's very little hardware available for it.
You can get the BD version in the UK for about $560 and it's ready to ship now.
I was planning on getting the ASRock ION 330 but it seems I can get this for the same price, I think I'll be getting one of these instead. That's my Christmas present sorted!
Since when did a feather become the benchmark for size? I want a coin or a Coke can!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
