So, I'm walking in Tokyo trying to find a building at Waseda University this morning. My iPhone tells me the EXACT BUILDING perfectly. I then go back to the station, searching for where it is. It tells me where to go and WHEN THE TRAIN IS. Also, what the train ticket is. As I walk with GPS. JEEBUS. I wish I didn't have an iPhone so I could buy one.
I was mad as hell at the change, but then I realized I'd switched my FW800 drive to a USB connection so I could have one single USB to my laptop (through my monitor, which has many USB ports), opting for simplicity over speed of backup. I also found this incredible 250 gb hard drive that's USB and requires no power supply, so when the time comes this is what I'll use, I guess.
Wow, it works great. Oops, I mean it doesn't work at all. Even if it did, caching Google Reader without caching ANY images if a great big FAIL. Google, please rework this to support images.
I bought my mother a PC by HP and lo if it didn't come with HDMI, no DVI at all. That was brilliant! Once afain Apple is slow to change its designs. I'd love to see Displayport on all future producs, please?
Yes, it is really embarrassing how slow this thing loads. I buy my wife a brand new Macbook Air and new Office, and she's like, I prefer my 2003 era iBook, can I use that instead? WTF here guys?
I switched to DW because of Adobe had peed in my Wheaties so much with GoLive -- man they killed that program bad, although they didn't need to have done that. Anyway, my first impression of DW CS3 was, *woah*, I'm trapped in 1997. Way to, um, never update or improve the interface at all. I look forward to improvements, but Adobe owes me one over the GoLive agony. Does anyone else think it's really bad that we now have only one program to do all these things that used to benefit from competition before?
SafariStand is fine. Since the *COMPLETE* implosion of Saft as a good product, to the great shame of the developer, can anyone recommend a plugin that will "undo" closed windows?
I think I speak for every phone-using gaijin living in Japan when I say

WTF? Where's Japan???
My friend at Qualcomm uses an iBook/Macbook as do many companies with the vision to treat computers as just a tool to use. Considering what a single employee costs to hire for a year, a Mac is only pennies more than an HP laptop. I'll bet that computers with more Unix derived software use Macs a lot more, and 100% Windows shops are less likely to. I do think that Apple is right to not openly chase enterprise sales, although they should eliminate barriers to being adopted by enterprise if they can (i.e. create a layer of support for them, sales reps etc.).
Good post. I LOLed. Now give us the old Logan's Run TV show, I loved that so much.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
