but thats not an iphone :O
tis rock band not guitar hero!
@liquidmark

the screen is a lower res on that one yeah, but its 1920x1080 by choice cos thats the 1080p standard, its also got the option for a blu-ray player as far as i know
also, that 17" macbook pro with the 1920x1200 resolution youre talking about is $300 more expensive than the one mentioned, the 15.4" for $2499 is only 1440x900, a hell of a lot less than 1080p
so considering to actually get that better screen you gotta add on $300 on top of the already $1400 difference, i dont think the ram and crappy integrated 9400m gt are $1400
@ ale

ive used leopard a lot, I honestly prefer windows, yes, thats just my opinion... and yes, im sure little bits and pieces of that are just because im used to it, ill admit that. but you cant just say its an easy carefree way to use a computer, generally people dont have major problems using windows, its not that hard, and once you get used to it, its great, an you have to get used to both of them...

And if anyone is in any way careful about things, they wont get viruses, i have a 3 year old HP laptop with AVG free, and its never had a virus, if you know what your doing with it (and if your here arguing about macs and pcs then you do) you wont get viruses, unless of course youre just complaining about having that 1 extra piece of software at all times, which is fair enough i guess, but not a major deal.

And really? "They ARE overpriced. But they last" thats ridiculous, if theyre OVERpriced it means theyre not worth it, theres no excuse for that, the $1400 difference in that price cant be rationally defended, you could buy the HP and then in a few years buy another laptop an still save money!
@ GeekPI

*AAPL

anyway, regardless of whatever preference in the OS you have, the $1400 extra is not justifiable, yes they look nice an have solid enclosures, but the difference in the price there is over 120%, which is actually ridiculous, and you cant seriously defend it. also, you could probably buy an amazing monitor for $1400..and yes i know, its not attached to it/portable, but it also wouldnt be glossy.
yeah but to the average consumer it would be like:
"Hmmm.. Apple's a few bucks more.. there must be a reason, let me investigate."
....
"I have investigated and there doesnt seem to be a reason"
Well regardless of what they've invested in in the past
The processor is from intel, which have been in PCs a lot longer than macs,
They may be great at making their own motherboards, i wouldnt know a lot about it, but i doubt theyre that much more advanced than every other company, while in PCs you generally have a choice,
Firewires obviously not that great considering Apple themselves have dropped it out of their regular macbooks,
The arms were used in hundreds of phones and PDAs before the iphone so Id hardly say it has any effect on how well they use it relative to any other company,
And honestly there was never a need for a mini display port, its just there to be a semi-proprietary connection which has no advantage and just makes everything awkward
I prefer windows but Ive no problem with people liking macs if they prefer them, there are pros and cons to both, and to be fair the macbooks look awesome, but to describe the internals as far superior to any competition is just ridiculous, HP will consider the quality of their parts just as much and its just stupid to say apple are more advanced than anyone. I wouldnt say the parts are generic, but theyre no better than other manufacturers put in their laptops, and the major ones like the intel processors an nvidia graphics cards have been in PCs for ages.
btw the ferrari driver would totally buy an acer ferrari laptop :D
are you serious? to all that your response was about saying 'microsoft' instead of 'windows'....anyway i agree, whatever about prefering the OS itself or the look of the machine, its still the same thing and shouldnt cost that much more. and to the complaining about how expensive her car is, it wouldnt matter if she had a ferrari, what she asked for was a laptop under $1000 not a laptop which you assume i can afford based on the price of my car
or they could be pointing out how 'overpriced' mac are straight away at the start so you rule apple out of your mind straight away
looks like the old nokia n93 to me
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
