@aaronaut
You don't have to know about tech to use it. Many TVs and BluRay players are now coming out with youtube, netflix, and hulu access built in.

In the next year you can very likely ask the ordinary person what hulu is, while they are watching a downloaded hulu show on their TV, and they will probably say "hu what?"

Most people have no clue what a brake master cylinder is or how it works, yet they certainly know putting pressure on the left (or center) pedal makes the car stop.*

* - unless they have never driven a car, watched a person drive a car, or been around people talking about driving cars - in other words, not people that do have broadband
@NinjaMonkey "but if you do something bad, i'm GLAD they do"

Your (anyone but myself) unknown and undefined idea of "something bad" is what worries me.

Nazi Germany considered you doing something bad if you were [insert something they hated] and you were still breathing.
@thefifthheat "I'm pretty sure that there aren't 8 million gang members being tracked on Sprint"

No, there are 8 gang members, and they have been harassed 1 million times each.
Sprint only is being hammered for the GPS data because the LEOs do not know where you are.

Reason? The USA does not have 5 cameras / citizen like the other side of the pond does.
@Dr Yusuf AlKindi ... that they went cheap on the design and just used a font's asterisks?
I once had a girlfriend that said she was maintenance free.

As in the tires on this scooter, that also was not completely the truth.
@NickNick No, you are in AOL land...
It is also quicker to die. SSD drives keep moving data around to keep from using a single cell too much.
I thought Brits VAT was "what you think the value of the device is, added". So if you thought this card was worth US$600, it should easily be worth £600.

See that? At £519, your government just saved you some money!
Long ago Tivo decided to model itself after large software houses - all of them.

Why innovate when it's cheaper to buy, destroy, and litigate?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
