The stimlus is approved, so you might as well take advantage of it (rather the complain). You can get more infromation here : http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/08/300m-cash-for-appliances-stimulus.html or at the DOE site. Will be till about mid-dec before the program is active in the various states.
Absolutely agree with your comments. The other item to consider is buying your warranty online rather than at the store you buy the product from. There are many sites that provide manufacture warranties at a much cheaper price.

A great story and hopefully the efforts of these guys will lower the executive excess that permeates Wall street nowadays.

More money for struggling automakers. At this rate, along with stimlus subsidies ( http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/04/your-5000-used-car-subsidy-in-proposed.html ) the US government will be giving away cars for free.
I don't know when the "right" time to buy will be. No one does. In reality buying a house is a very personal decision for every family based on many factors. For me I started my home buying process ( http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/02/buying-home-in-current-real-estate.html ), because I need more place for an expanding family, am planning to stay in my current location for a while and most importantly have sufficient funds to put down a healthy deposit while still having emergency funds set aside.
Per this release, http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/02/help-for-unemployed-and-under-insured.html , the stimulus plan will also provide a 60% subsidy on COBRA payments (compared to 80% employers subsidize)
Unfortunately the final version of tbe bill ( http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/02/car-buyer-tax-breaks-in-obama-economic.html ) only provides sales tax breaks. Too little if you ask me.
8 months and we have already doubled the homeowner credit. Yet the housing market continues to falter. Further per this review of the credit ( http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/02/15000-first-home-buyer-tax-credit-in.html ) the tax management of this credit is going to be tricky, particularly because it is not retroactive to the current rebate.
Thanks for the link back to my article. Your explanation of the concept was great as well.
Unfortunately higher fees are in the works. As I discussed in a recent post on this very topic ( http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2008/11/bank-on-it-higher-fees-are-here-to-stay.html ), another factor prompting banks to raise fees and loan rates is a Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) proposal to increase the rates banks pay for deposit insurance starting next year in order to help replenish its reserves. If that rule change is approved, experts say, banks will probably pass on more of those higher costs to consumers by raising fees and boosting the minimum balances required to avoid fees. So while we were all cheering the FDIC and its increased protection levels for depositor's, you now know who will be paying for those increases. You, me, and all banking customers

"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
