Only I was being ironic.

Paul: You meant to say 'ridiculous'. Just change the title and give us nit-picks some peace.
Paul obviously meant that the device is shocked by its own existence.
I thought those were poopies.
"pretended to freshen-up its makeup while sneaking a wanton look back at Samsung in the reflection of its shareholder discontent"

haha. I don't know, that's pretty well written I think.
You guys need to stop complaining about the damn glossy displays. I could never see my damn iBook outside even on a cloudy day, but I can see my macbook's screen outside on half-brightness on a sunny day. Direct sunlight or light from a bulb tends to be diffused over a larger area on a matte screen and actually becomes harder to see than a glossy desplay, which reflects the light in a tighter angle, and in the end is more viewable.

The only people that need bitch about glossy screens are graphic designers who need to work with printed medium. But even then, just rely on the damn Pantones and you'd be fine.

SSD's are THE FUTURE.
Soon, 1 TB platter HD's will cost you less than $100.

That's confusing.
That's unfortunate, though. Firewire chaining is really useful for software RAID sets, target firewire mode on Macs is great for data recovery, and IP over firewire is a really easy way to transfer huge files between machines that don't have gigabit NICs. The transfer rate is faster than over gigE too.

More people would be using it if laptop manufacturers would include the full size ports instead of the crappy 4-pin iLink ports. Cables plugged into those ports feel like they're going to fall out at any moment, and they can't power devices. Of course you'd rather use USB devices.

While I do think that technology and its progress will save us all, everyone should note that every common form of digital cryptography today will be trivially crackable when quantum computing comes. Worse, it will only be owned by rich governments and corporations, and finally, quantum cryptography won't be affordable in any meaningful way for years after the qubit revolution.

So yeah. Long live the sneakernet.
Holy shit that was terrible.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
