Sep 3rd 2008 7:59PM the current track-pad isn't quite a POS - but it won't let you turn off tap to click and it's WAY WAY too sensitive - carpal tunnel or external mouse, choose your poison.

Aug 20th 2008 7:48PM CPU/NB/SB/GMA950 chipset is the same as the Wind Netbook - so it should be a one button Hackintosh with the PB WindOSX86 ISO, no onboard audio support in OSX - desktop has no internal speakers, USB audio dongle required ($10)
Plays 720p iTMS/Trailer videos no problem - Hulu no prob (Flash10 Beta) - Handbrake took 7 hours to rip a B&W DVD to .M4V singlepass (a 700mhz G4 iMac takes 24h+, an 8core 3ghz tower 28m)

MSI Winds said to be shipping without Synaptic touchpads {Engadget}
Aug 15th 2008 9:19PM I got mine from Amazon last week - I was on the "e-mail me when this is in stock" list - they never e-mailed, but when ZipZoomFly sent me the in stock notice, I happened to check Amazon and they were accepting pre-order. They ended up shipping it 5 days later. Seems like MSI is dropping pallets at various vendors in really irregular allotments. They're eventually supposed to be available through Costco as well. I just ordered the barebones box as well (no supply issues with that, hopefully it'll hackintosh just as easily)
Ask Engadget: What's the best netbook out there? {Engadget}
Aug 14th 2008 11:08PM I got my MSI wind 2 days ago - it makes for a killer 10" superlight mac laptop - XP is fine on it - dual booting.... kind of a pain.
the keyboard is great - trackpad sucks donkeyballs, no way to turn off click and drag on the mac side. FUGLY white vinyl slipcase with grey piping - guess the girl next door gets a new carry bag for her Brats dolls (ick).
VERY happy for 549.99 (free shipping/no tax) and no Steve Jobs $200 "black tax"

Aug 12th 2008 6:01PM My 6Cell Wind arrives today - ON TRUCK FOR DELIVERY - extra ram, Atheros card, 320GB SATA drive on the work bench - DAMN you UPS - DAMN YOU TO HELL!
(dual boot hackintosh here I come - but that Dell looks really sweet, especially if they can bring it in decently specced for under $500)

Jul 7th 2008 8:32AM re: Hipocracy: One of Jobs money quotes was that the "ginger" was so revolutionary - so game changing that cities would be re-architected for it. reading the linked Harvard article one gets the impression he flip-flopped on that one.
re: industrial design vs product design - one chooses the plastics most likely to yellow or crack with use (macbooks, cube) the other decides that your keyboard should look like a cheeto dust terrarium.
