or you could get a phone with a resistive touchscreen and not do all this crap
"considered pretty tough to break"

you got that right. i've dropped my psp countless times, on various surfaces, and all that ever happened was the UMD fell out and the device reset itself.

the psp is a brick!!
These stuff can never be completely secure. No matter how hard ANY company tries, it still wont be able to stop piracy. The hacker community is too large for every market to be able to properly combat it.

As long as steal other people's work isn't the goal, I'm glad that almost every device could be hacked to customize it anyway you want and do unofficial stuff that didn't get put in since it would "confuse the user" or for "replicating features."
Andriod IS a linux phone. And what restrictions are you talking about, its mostly open source.
Dude, give him a break. The Pre sync being killed was updated later.
why was apple brought up?
the reply was stupider than the original post
I don't think you guys understand. Automatic driving cars is the best thing ever since the invention of the car itself. It will revolutionize the way people use cars.

Currently, there are many inefficiencies, which could be eliminated by having a networked system or auto driven cars. Imagine, a car which can interact with other cars, find the fastest path, drive at much faster speeds and reduce waste. There wont be a need to stop at traffic lights anymore, since the cars can get to the intersection at a perfect time, where it can just go forward. This way, energy wasted when braking and accelerating can be conserved and a new generation of 'green' cars will arise.

This might sound like science fiction, but I cannot wait for the day people don't need to burn extra, unnecessary fuel, braking and accelerating. Also, a computer will be able to handle higher speeds much better than a human, allowing for faster cars and shorter rides.

Just my two cents. :)
@alvin

Windows uses more memory if it is available. If you have a lot of RAM, then some of the cache and page file is stored on the RAM itself, but if you have very little, most of the page file is moved to the HDD, which allows for the optimal performance for every variation.

For example, with 3GB RAM, I disabled page file, and my RAM usage runs up to 1GB upon start up.
why would you want something that has no purpose anymore?

a pc might not last as long as a mac, but it doesnt matter.. 80% of the time, a computer is never used more than 5 years.. even if i get another PC after 5 years, i would still just be slightly more expensive than a mac and in this time the advancements in technology would make my new one run laps around your old mac..
actually the comments are the only reason im on engadget, otherwise, google reader would have sufficed B-)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
