There are 4 million users of Tivos- and the interesting thing about it is that you actually need fewer channels when you have a DVR that works. Just use one of the Cable or Satellite "First Party" DVRs for a week. No really. Take the step to reality beyond idle spec comparison. USE a Non Tivo DVR. Or at least try. Then you will understand why so many people are buying a service from a vendor who has no self interest in selling you more channels. -Mak
Accident waiting to happen is right. OK you have a motor capable of swinging the heft of a 50" display. Kids fingers get up in that baffle in the scissor arms of that mount (given the degrees of movement they are going to have to use a scissor). Then Child B hits the control for the TV. Great ideas guys.

Sometimes low tech is the best solution. There are a few heavy construction manual swing arms out there, that swing x,y&z (yaw, pitch, in&out). I use one from Chief Manufacturing (chiefmfg.com) which is extremely heavy duty steel but I suppose there may be others by now. The kids can swing on it fully extended- not that I would let them but even if they did it's not going to come off the wall or bend under the torque.
Yes, that is right Black Ninja, and it is most telling that the booth apparently did not draw attention to that fact. It would be prudent to watch what Cisco has in mind for Kiss. Possibly there will be a Sci-Atl Kiss technology convergence sometime in the future.
iTms: $1.99 for 320x240 video from a very limited selection from a store with no competitors allowed. Tivo: Free video at more resolution than the iPod can handle, from a limitless selection of movies- anything you can record you can put on your iPod. Tivo sux? Try to get iPod connectivity from your Cablecompany box.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I want a 13-incher. I need something with a great keyboard for typing, as this will mostly be used for note taking in class. I am absolutely smitten with the XPS 13, but I'm afraid that with its age Dell is going to give it an update soon. Any advice for someone in my shoes?"
