" During a warranted search of his home earlier this fall, Gilbert police found 18 computers and other equipment stolen from the district."

Why the hell are they even talking about Seti@home??

This story should have been titled "Nerd fired for stealing 18 computers". But I guess that would not have been much of a story.

I travel a lot and really depend on my Garmin to get around. On a recent trip when I realized I'd forgotten it at home, I immediately went out and bought a second one.

I have tried navigation on Blackberry and on my LG Voyager and they are both a total joke compared to the Garmin. I found both to be nearly useless even when walking.
What we aren't sure of, however, is how exactly the company came up with the nearly laughable MSRP.

It's pretty simple. Not nearly enough reviewers or magazines called Olympus out on the crazy pricing of the EP-1. Everyone wet themselves over the camera's styling and ignored the fact that there was nothing under the hood to justify anything close to the price that was demanded.

Everyone seems to think the Pen cameras make great backup cameras for pro photographers except for pro photographers. In the rare cases where pro's feel the need for a P&S camera as a backup they almost exclusively carry Canon G9's, G10's and G11's (and that includes the Nikon guys).

For the price of this camera you could buy a Canon G11 and an S90, both of which are superior cameras to both Pen models and include built in flash units.

Anyoe who thinks the Pen cameras are portable needs to go have a look at one. You are not going to put this camera in the pocket of anything other than an arctic parka with the lens mounted. If your going to walk around lugging a camera case you may as well carry a small SLR like the T1i (if you buy the t1i you will save enough money for a nice case and a pro strobe as well).

The Pen's are fashion cameras that will be quickly forgotten.
I completely understand the need for limits on the use of bandwidth. I have been living quite happily with a 30 gig down/ 10 gig up limit on my home connection for years. The reason I don't mind the limits is that my ISP (Videotron in Montreal) didn't sell me an "unlimited" plan. They were very upfront about it, the limits were posted prominently when I chose my plan and the company made it easy for me to check my usage on their website.

What American companies want is the right to sell "unlimited data" plans and then restrict, slow down or block P2P, Torrent, Video or anything else they decide isn't included in the term "unlimited".
Doesn't look like it's really designed for everyone in the UK either. At 4 people per car, many of the families I saw over there would need 3 or 4 cars.
I cannot imagine a phone good enough to convince me to return to Sprint.
My first 5 digital cameras were Sony's. The Memory Stick nonsense drove me to Canon and I have not looked back since. It is very nice to be able to move cards from camera to laptop, to phone, to netbook etc.

I once found SD cards for sale in a small grocery store in the middle of the Pyrenees Mountains in France. You would be lucky to find your particular flavor of Memory Stick in a fully stocked Best Buy in Silicon Valley.

I would be willing to bet that Saony loses more money on equipment sales from people avoiding the Memory Stick than they make selling Memory Sticks.
Don't be too hard on the guy in the store. He has formed his opinion of women's tech knowledge based on the the 2000 women that came in before you. My girlfriend is a financial attorney who writes contracts for multi-million dollar deals but still pretends to not know how to program her cell phone or set up a new printer. She does this because she knows I will do it for her.
It would be cool to make them make the sound the cars on the Jetsons made. The frequency would change with the speed of the car just like on the show.
I would be much more excited by a 5 MP camera with a decent glass lens with a cover, the ability to write EXIF data to the photos and the possibility of taking the first photo in under 5 seconds.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
