@zachbeale I've been content with a point and shoot camera for a long time. However with a first child on the way, I wanted to be able to take great photos AND be able to take the occasional video. Thats what made me choose a Nikon D90 over say a competitor without the video feature.

Sure it isn't the deciding feature, but all things being equal, I'll pick the one with a video feature built in.
I really don't understand why the EU feels the consumers are too dumb to help themselves here. If I don't want Windows pre-loaded on my machine, I'll go to any of the dozens of vendors who offer bare-bones machines, or I'll build one myself.

I don't want to be "protected" by the EU thankyouverymuch.
In what way is this a netbook?
I really want a turn-by turn navigation. Of course in order for that to happen you really need background apps so that you don't get lost as soon as somebody calls you.

Leykis rules!

Stern is just boring. I mean whats the point of having "nudity" on a radio show.
Don't believe everything you read folks. There is no way this is true. I mean come on, we know that both Multitouch and the 3.5mm jack thing have prior implementations. Apple isn't trying to pull some vast conspiracy here. The story is bunk.
Google Sync is awsome! No more Mobile me!

If only they would integrate mail push though this same mechanism i'd be in 7th heaven.
I'm not holding my breath.

This was one of the great broken promises/expectations of iPhone 3g. To me without push or backround processes most of my 3rd party apps are damn near useless.

Also, I'm still waiting on Turn By turn GPS.
This is particularly important in the case when you travel internationally. Checking even simple emails can get very costly if some numbskull sends large image attachments.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
