If HP would just release this 13 inch model with identical specs to the lowest macbook, drop the fingerprint reader and esata, drop an x3100 into it instead of the 8400m, and sell it for at least 300 less than a macbook, this thing would be a SLAYER.

Desparately needed addition to HP's lineup. Over priced compared to the competition. :( Sadness ensues.
The HP has a 8400m. That's not much Nvidia to be had in the first place.
Um... I can get a 13.3in Macbook for 1099, or fully loaded for 1299-1499, and load Windows on it if I really wanted to. Why on earth would I get this HP when the Mac is way more stylish?

Looks like an amazing product, way to drop the ball on pricing though.
The massive effect this would have on my life is...

I'd have HDMI.
I'd have a quieter 360.
I'd give mass effect another play thru as a different class.
My old 360 would go into my girlfriend's dorm room so we could play Rock Band when I came down to visit. : )
Dear Red Link,

Marry me. Plox.
Way to make a story by not mentioning dui in the headline, and making it sound like the guy's a psychopathic killer. Love you joystiq, but I hate that you're trying to create traffic by inflating the news.
The part where they're calling the persians boy-lovers.

But but but... Everyone needs boy love!
This isn't news. HP has been offering special edition white dv6X00 series laptops in the United States for months through Best Buy and HP.com
If I had an iPhone, I'd most look forward to having a device to entertain myself with while I wait on my lame friends who always keep me waiting. Without having to pull my laptop out of my backpack.
No, I don't work for Red Octane. I'm just an engadget reader who's angry that the website I go to for news is fabricating news. Reporting that people are having problems is one thing. Saying that Red Octane admits they're defective, when Red Octane has said nothing like that officialy is another.

All we've seen are emails from Red Octane to users, no offical statement saying "Oh yeah, the models 9xxxx and 9xxxx are definately bad, go return them."

And as for this "Calibration issue." It's the same thing that happined on Nintendo 64 when analog controlers were introduced. If you held the joystick to the side when you turned it on, Mario would run in circles forever.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
