That "they do use top quality pants" comment pretty much sums it all up. That in addition to paint apparently being one of the "parts" of a computer rather than simply a "material" used to change its color, I can totally see why it costs an additional $500~600 for a different colored 133.
Yeah, that mug is pretty pimpin, but I don't know about this heater thing. If it doubled over as a soldering iron I would totally be all over it, but...
Hey man, I hate to break it to you, but I could easily afford the new iPhone if I wanted to, and I could also go wait in line like a loser to get one if I wanted to... however, I DO NOT want to have to carry around a phone that is 3x bigger and heavier than my current one. Our regular phones here in Japan have television viewing capabilities (that are much superior to the crappy viewing options the iPhone comes with), 5.2 megapixel cameras, and are SMALL!!! Not only that, they don't cost $70 a month to carry around a giant phone either like the iPhone 3G does. We can use our regular phones as our train tickets, credit cards, and all kinds of other stuff. I would much rather have all that in one rather than being able to use two fingers to enlarge my photos on an iPhone. I have a computer for picture viewing, computer/PS3/Wii/xBox 360 for game playing. I do not want/need an iPhone, not "cannot get one."
I am upset about seeing nothing but iPhone news when I view this site because I come here to see news about other new technology - which has been a little drowned out by the all the iPhone hype recently. This is why me (and other like myself) are a little upset by the focus on even the stupid details of the iPhone 3G's release.
Both PS and XBox are aimed at different types of gaming... XBox seems to be a lot more multi-player oriented, while the PS has traditionally been a lot more single-player oriented. If I didn't have any friends I would buy a PS3. If I did I would buy a 360. Or because I don't really care about the price of stuff I would just buy all the new systems like I did, and play the good games and not worry about what system they are for.
Yes, I will be one of the ones who pays a lot for the new Z when it comes out ("an 'ultra portable' notebook with 13,1" LED screen in 16:9 aspect (1366x768 and 1600*900), Nvidia GPU with HDMI.")
Excellent point!!! There are many things that it would be cool if you could do with technology, but doing this to a keyboard?? Come on... not only would your fingers getting hurt from tapping a non-shock-absorbent screen (for the most part), this thing would be an absolute fingerprint magnet - AND you wouldn't really be able to "feel" the keys to locate the positioning of your hands on the keyboard, which would mean a lot of looking down that shouldn't have been necessary for proficient typers. Haptics don't give your hands the three dimensional feel of touching a keyboard when just resting them on top of the screen. Even if this thing was only several hundred dollars, I do not think I would buy one unless it had insanely good specs - at which point I would go out and buy a wireless USB or other type of keyboard to use with it.
I am a resident of Japan and have been excited about this upcoming line of Sony computers... but there has been absolutely no news or advertisements or ANYTHING about these so far over here, and the people at electronic stores refuse to even admit that a new series is coming out. Apparently the announcement is going to be on July 15th for the FW and SR, right? But the Z isn't going to be until August or so apparently??
Also, I am looking at getting a new computer because mine totally blows right now, but I cannot afford a new laptop & desktop, so it will be one or the either... anyone think that the Z will be able to handle Blizzard's anticipated new releases (Starcraft 2 / Diablo 3) if its stats are anything like the FW and SR?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I want a 13-incher. I need something with a great keyboard for typing, as this will mostly be used for note taking in class. I am absolutely smitten with the XPS 13, but I'm afraid that with its age Dell is going to give it an update soon. Any advice for someone in my shoes?"
