I still contend this is the GRX from Speed Racer more than a Batmobile look-alike:

Speaking as a hearing impaired person (not deaf, just impaired), I have trouble watching films at home without them (the theater is usually loud enough). And when seeing foreign films, yellow text is usually best for subtitles.

What I'd like to see, though, is more attention paid to DVD releases regarding subtitles. Some companies, like A&E, have responded to my inquiries regarding subtitling by telling me they don't feel it's worth the expense to subtitle. When I mention I've bypassed a number of A&E released sets, the operator got a bit rude and asked how, if I was deaf, I could be talking to her on the phone.

Of course, some releases have CC (closed captions) and that "counts" as subtitling. It does and doesn't; depending on the hardware you're using and the setup, you might not be able to view subtitles. I can recall a Bose Lifestyle System I had years ago that was hooked up a la component cables; that did *not* carry the CC signal. I haven't had the opportunity to test out HDMI yet, but I'm hopeful.

For the hearing impaired, it's a mixed bag. I don't mean to hijack the thread -- I know this is about foreign language subtitling.
When in college I wrote a few short stories that continued the story of the crew of the C-57-D after the events of the film. Five or six stories in, I realized I was basically writing "STAR TREK" (TOS) with a different ship and people, but similar characters, so I kind of let it go.

It's worth hunting down a used copy of the original novel if you can. I have one, took me forever to get it (lost my original paperback copy to Katrina).
Ridiculous argument. The same was said when the CDs came out. And the same could be said about any artists' work.

I'm tired of rehashing it, so I won't yet again, but remember too this will be for the remastered works. That plus it's a digital age, it needs to be on digital, etc etc ad nauseam.

Gimmee a 32GB version (or a 64!) and I'll be in that number. Pipe dream for now, I know.
iWeb's problem (for me, at least) is the lack of ability to set multiple users and passwords for a page. That doesn't affect joe average but it sure affects me.
My mom had the Flower Power iMac; she loved it (though it was in a hutch, and you really couldn't see it, per se). She used it up until Katrina hosed it (almost literally).

That was my first thought too, Neal. Well, actually, my first thought was "Race! Jonny! Hadji!"

Looking forward to it, but the timing is very poor -- should've been an early summer release.

Excited about the prospect of CGI based "episodes"; it opens up a lot of possibilities. (Think SPLINTER OF THE MIND'S EYE or SHADOW OF THE EMPIRE as film projects, for instance; I'd rather see occasional films (even direct-to-video) than a regular series; YMMV.)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
