It even says the correct spelling in the screenshot.
We do not care about your engineer's journal: an online travelogue.

According to that, MS have confirmed it's only targeting memory units that plug into the front of the console, not unauthorized hard drives. Phew, just hope it's true.
I don't wish to spread FUD on this, but my thinking is that there must be a million or so hard drives out there all with the same serial (they've all been flashed with the same firmware, after all, and I'm sure I remember my serial changing after I did mine), so that's a pretty easy way to tell which ones are not genuine.
Oh crap, I never thought of this! Wish I hadn't signed up to the preview now. :(
Stop dispelling the myth - how do you think we attract tourists?
Hey, I ain't done nuthin'
Well we're certainly not broke a$$ mofos running to drop $2500 on an entire new machine, just to get an OS which deletes your stuff and works completely differently to what we're used to.
@ chadow

Dude, your vehicular willy-waving is impressing no one. And besides which, you're comparing what is basically a 4wd rally car, and a top of the range 3 litre 4wd BMW, against a mass-market manufacturer's cars - the VAST majority which you'd come across are fwd and aren't sports cars. Do you feel proud of your achievement when you steam away from lights leaving that 1.6 litre Focus in your dust, and put the memory in your wank-bank for later?

The fact *you've* not encountered a Ford out there which can beat your cars means jack, my friend.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
