Could some kind of hydraulic system be used instead? The weight of slow moving vehicles could push the bump down (speeding vehicles, of course, would still get the full effect). It may not be simple to design, but it wouldn't require electricity.
Really? It's why Apple's popular (say what you will about good software - the general public doesn't know the difference). I love my HTC Touch Diamond, and still prefer it over the 3G iPhone, G1 and Storm. Gloss is a major factor, but so is the screen resolution and gorgeous interface (as mentioned in the article).
My HTC Touch Diamond has a 640x480 screen. I can read the MSN homepage without zooming in. I know, keeping the price down is important, it's just that I could never ever go back.
You know, parts of the card may actually be recyclable.

Anyway, I'm surprised no one is thinking about how these cards are actually intended to be used. You open up your presents on Christmas morning, and you're not really thinking about taking pictures, but then you open up your gift card and, hey, why not take some pictures? It's a similar process with the Best Buy speaker card. You get an iPod for Christmas, but no one can listen to it but you; why not plug it into the card? Cheap and fun.
It's a pretty cool gimmick, especially when you consider that the cost of making these in China is approximately zero.
Where is the 640x480 screen?!
Well, at least we saw it coming.
If Apple did release a "Pro" iPhone, I assume it would most likely come with a slide out keyboard. I'm not sure how many other distinguishing features it could really have.
Don't forget that Blackberry has its own touch screen phone coming out. I will never own an iPhone; too cheap, too common, and I tend to not play well with those in love with Apple products. I do not own a Blackberry as I feel they're also too common, but I may cave in one day as it is the phone used by all of my peers.
Dougpy, I'd hardly call that comparable. None of your examples actually mimic the experience being sold (who wants to listen to a concert outside?!) It also doesn't cost them anything if you watch from your apartment, and you're not actually 'consuming' a product, data, etc.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
