Jul 9th 2009 11:40AM @telepheedian - got a link for that plan? Possible to get it sans voice?

Video: iPhone copy and paste is a 'pretty incredible thing'... for 1999 {Engadget}

Forget smartphones, my last 4 or 5 dumphones could with 2-3 button presses dial a number from a txt/email/webpage.

But thanks for perpetuating the stereotype that iPhone users think Apple invented everything.

Mushroom Networks announces new wireless "Broadband Bonding" technology {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2009 5:45PM It makes a difference if the cell isn't overloaded. (and even if it is, assuming they try and provide each subscriber semi-equal service)

Dude hardwires Palm Touchstone into BMW, charging ensues {Engadget}

Jun 18th 2009 3:47PM go on over to the mp3car forums for a while and see if you still think that. Plenty of BMW projects. The E39/E38/E46 Era ones usually even have I-Bus integration for controlling windows/dash display/etc.

Palm Pre runs Doom, smartphone-loving space marines rejoice {Engadget}

Jun 12th 2009 8:21AM This is the first example of a native binary app running on the Pre. It's good news coming less than a week after launch, because it means even if Palm never gives the official OK, Independent developers should still be able to exploit the full power of the hardware. I know it's tough to step out from your iWorld and understand that news can be viewed in a light other than "how does this compare to the jesus phone", but give it a shot every once in a while.

If you're so insistent, though, on keeping your filter on, how about this: how many homebrew apps were there for the first gen iPhone 6 days after launch? IIRC at that point apple was still in the "web apps are good enough for anyone" phase.

Roger McNamee says Pre launch was a "dream come true," hints that all Palm devices will have physical keyboards {Engadget}

Jun 9th 2009 12:41PM They're not wooing developers, they're alienating them. The WebOS SDK has been in special club only mode for way too long.

Are you getting in line for a Palm Pre? {Engadget}

Jun 5th 2009 5:03PM Two things holding me back:

-not giving up my existing plan (though I'm certain I can get past this with 30 minutes or so of haggling....did the same thing when I went from vision to power vision)
-No Public SDK. I was all excited about the iPhone when it was first announced too, but really, I'm not going to buy a phone I can't code for. (by the time the sdk finally dropped in non-NDA form to the general public, I had ceased to be a potential customer....you listening, palm?)

SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone coming shortly: $29.99, no 3G support {Engadget}

May 12th 2009 1:27PM I think the issue is MS and AT&T don't have any sort of agreement to allow AT&T to dictate what software gets sold for their devices. (And even if they did, MS's lack of central control over app distribution prevents this sort of thing)

I'm sure the chunk of every iphone bill they're handing over to apple plays into AT&T's pain threshold when it comes to data usage as well. They'll have a much easier time breaking even on a heavy data using WM handset.

/I agree with all the no 3G/no deal posters, though. My $90 craigslist special treo can run slingplayer over EVDO just fine, a modern carrier-flagship device not being able to do so is an embarassment.

ZyXEL's DMA-2500 streams in 1080p content from your network {Engadget}

May 6th 2009 11:07AM For devices with internal/external storage attached, like the PCH, it could be convenient to take to a friend's house/on vacation/etc where HD sets might not be available.

How-to: set up dual-band WiFi (and juice your downloads) {Engadget}

May 1st 2009 1:21PM everyone with 20mbps+ FiOS and an 802.11g router begs to differ with you.
