I was wondering where all that free space on my iPhone came from. Now I know it was from an Ambiance upgrade. I don't use the app that much, and when I do, it was only for three or four sounds, so as long as the sound downloads are free, I think this is a better solution than including all of the audio in the download.
Stickies! And real-life Post-Its, too.
Whoa, this is great! I am the web developer at StoryCorps, the organization that launched the National Day of Listening initiative just a couple of weeks ago. We are so excited about how much interest is being generated in this project. StoryCorps happens to be an all-Mac shop and I've been reading this blog for years. TapeDeck definitely embodies the spirit of simplicity that we are going for... you can use anything to record your story: a tape recorder, a laptop computer, your iPhone (I have been testing Griffin iTalk), or even a camcorder. Thanks for mention.
Agreed - WordBook is great. Only $8, it has plenty of words, Dictionary and Thesaurus mode, and an excellent interface.
So long, Ryan. I will miss your very stylish hat.
Ah, but the Google Maps feature and the MTA website won't work while you're underground. ; )

I also find the CityTransit version of the map easier to read than a Google Map.

I bought CityTransit and File Magnet and they're both great apps. File Magnet is a tad bit buggy, it's obviously a 1.0 release, but the developer was quick to reply and it sounds like they are addressing customer feedback with new features soon.

File Magnet adds a HUGE new functionality to the iPhone. I can now download audio or video files at work (I'm thinking of podcasts mostly but other things too) and just drag and drop them rather than wait to get home to sync. Also a PDF reader. It won't replace a dedicate e-book reader (I bought BookShelf too!) but the functionality already included is pretty exciting.
So awesome, now just do this for Gcal to iCal to iPhone and I would be so darn happy.
For an AVI file to show up in AppleTV, it has to be hacked, no? Just making sure I understand the story correctly... I would *love* to play AVIs on my AppleTV, but I'm not willing to open the box.
I must be getting older to feel sympathy for a giant media company like NBC, but I, too, feel like skipping the ads on Hulu is the wrong thing to do. I appreciate them making the content available, isn't watching a couple of ads worth it? Although I would *much prefer* to just pay the $2 to be able to download them on my Apple TV without ads.

I haven't quite squared this with the fact that I also have a Tivo and have no problem skipping ads there. It's a complicated world we live in, I guess.
I've been CMD-Shift-4'ing for a long time now but never knew about the spacebar trick. That's awesome, thank you!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
