Umm what? Capacitive has nothing to do with pressure, resistive maybe as the more pressure you apple to the 2 thin sheets the harder it is for the device to read the input but in capacitive pressure has no bearing on accuracy/pointing as it's a single layer.
I don't care about the name, I just hope MS learns (haha very likely...) and gives us a blend of a vastly stripped down Vista and XP for Windows 7 and it might turn out not half bad.
Did you not care to read the rebukes to your battery argument in the previous thread? Because if you did you would know you are lying. Most batteries are made by Delta, Apple doesn't have their own special kind, they're the bog standard lithium ion ones everyone gets except Apple puts them in their specific casing that fits their laptops and other manufacturers puts them in their own specific casing that fits their laptop. The only differentiation is the size, shape and connectors and EVERY manufacturer has a different one, Apple aren't some sort of exception, EVERY manufacturer uses different sized and shaped batteries with different connectors, but stripped down they are all the same cells from most likely the same manufacturer.
Yes Apple does design their own components because they HAVE to, like EVERY other manufacturer has too. Again there is not some bog standard mobo that Apple for some reason eschews almost every manufacturer designs boards to their own specification and they are then manufactured to that spec. Again most likely by the same manufacturer.
Your 'examples' of how Apple somehow pays more to do what EVERY other manufacturer does really doesn't make sense. You act as if every other notebook seller just repackages some OEM stuff and sells it on when that is certainly not the case. If Apple for some reason is paying more for their batteries and motherboards then other manufacturers they are doing a pretty bad job as a business for not being able to get the same product as everyone else for the same price. Apple do it the same way as every other major manufacturer of notebooks so unless they are getting a raw deal in manufacturing they are paying just as much as Samsung or Lenovo or LG for their vital components.
Seriously stop parroting this stuff that Apples R&D is so much higher because they design their components, yes they do but so does every other major manufacturer of components. Almost no major brand name repackages OEM laptop parts (unless you include Sager/Clevo) they all have their engineers design their components to fit and yet they somehow manage to churn out sub $1000 laptops.
"Of course when Sony releases an 11.1" laptop with a 1.4 Ghz processor for $4400, nobody blinks an eye, do they? I bet some people still think the Macbook Air is more expensive.... somehow."
I guess you missed the comments in the news story, the numerous ones in the comments section and many off site that it was overpriced and not worth it? When one person says that Apple are somehow not value for money you leap all over it, but when 100 people say the same thing about a Sony laptop "nobody blinks an eye"? Seriously you're either reading what you want to read or blind.
No I don't judge quality by market share, otherwise I wouldn't hold Cowon in such high regard, I was simply making a point that if any magic had really happened their market share WOULD be larger then it is, just like with their iPod division whose 'magic' was bringing a device to market that was easy to use.
And yes Apple do use the same parts, because a 9800GT is branded Asus or Leadtek does that make the cards drastically different? No they are the same thing re branded. Components are branded differently but when you get down to it Apple use the same Intel processors, RAM producers etc. because the fact is most brands are made by the same company in Asia (Foxconn etc.)
And actually if you wanted to know it depends on type of plastic, and you do know that the best option at the moment is magnesium alloys right now right for the best blend of rigidity/strength? Aluminium, although I have no problem with it aesthetically is a bad choice compared to other materials on the market right now.
So no other companies have R&D costs? The problem is you view every other OEM/manufacturer as some kind of manufacturer that has no overheads, yes Apples may be larger but you cannot know that unless you have the fiscals in front of you right now. And yes I do take feature list into account, in fact it's the reason I do not buy into Macs because feature wise they are extremely sparse.
Actually the scary thing is I know more about macs then most mac fanboys, I could easily get a job as a 'Genius' at an Apple store if I wanted to and get most of the questions right. And the fact is it doesn't add up, even if Apple somehow has overheads much higher then competitors their prices don't make sense hardware wise.
And the really funny thing is your argument that I'm just another "aple sux lol" person. Yes I guess the explains perfectly why I absolutely love OSX, and why I'm particularly partial to the design of macs compared to competitors (even though they can be a little bland at time). You are the typical Apple defender, one who jumps to conclusions about his opposition and maintains a stream of strawman arguments to prove a point that I already accept.
So just another mindless mac hater am I?
Btw, no cockroaches aren't better, but Tardigrades ftw! Not much (and nothing its size) can survive and proliferate in space near absolute zero!
Unfortunately no magic has happened yet, otherwise they would have a larger market share right now.
I have no problem with the styling, or indeed the software of Macs (except itunes), however Apple constantly falls at the most important hurdle of aptly priced hardware and offer sub par hardware at huge price premiums, and they really have no excuse for that now that they use the same hardware as everyone else.
Almost certainly wasteful, even if they reuse the negative space by melting it down into more bricks it takes a lot of electricity to get the temps required for such a process.
You know keyboard flex is determined by the backplate right? Not the surface it is showing on, and unless they have broken the laws of physics and can install a keyboard during the Brick process the backplate will need to be a separate piece
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
