Hyundai CEO Krafcik on production Veloster: "Think of it like a four-passenger Honda CRX" {Autoblog}

Jul 8th 2009 8:43PM With the right technologies 40 MPG is totally feasible.

Direct Injection is an obvious way to eek horses out of a smaller engine while getting great fuel economy.

The Honda Civic gets 36 Highway MPG out of a larger (1.8 L) engine. That engine doesn't have Direct Injection. Given this engine's smaller size, DI, and Hyundai's newly developed expertise with engines (Hyundai's Tau V8 comes to mind, it is one of the smoother V8s out there), it's not as far fetched as it initially sounds.

I'm all for a Hyundai CRX (CR-Z?) fighter with 4 seats. It sounds like a great idea, and with the right features at the right price, it could be my first new car!

Nikon D3000, D300s images materialize {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2009 2:11AM About that D3000, just price it somewhere in the neighborhood of $600, make the grip more comfortable for large hands than the Canon XS/XSi/T1i grips, and rival the Canon's in image quality, and you have a buyer!

I've been waiting for a camera that is like the Canon XS (you know, cheap-ish but high quality-ish) but with a larger grip, and judging from Nikon's tendency to be comfortable in my hands, this could be the one.

REPORT: Toyota Prius ad campaign most liked by TV viewers (w/VIDEO) {Autoblog}

Jun 23rd 2009 5:28PM I am not particularly fond of these ads. They somehow remind me of teletubbies.

Volkswagen seems to know very well how to appeal to the masses in their TDI ads, while Toyota seems to appeal mainly to treehuggers and the like. Combine that with the falling price of diesel fuel, the power advatage, and the price, I think that in a few years, VW may have a winner in their hands in a matter of one or two years.

Personally, I can't wait for the golf tdi which is coming stateside soon. I think that if it lives up to the hype, I will be getting one to replace my 98 civic.
