This is the new interface being tested on HD DVRs for Cox Communications in Phoenix - been out for about 2 weeks now on testing units. Can't wait for widespread release to all Cox customers, as the older DVR interface is atrocious...
I'm not sure who needs a standalone GPS unit these days... or a built-in one in your car either.... now that a lot of phones are offering GPS turn-by-turn directions, with real-time traffic, I think days are numbered for GPS units, both in cars and standalone.

Now, all we need is a much better camera in our phones (ahem iphone) and I can get rid of all my extra devices: laptop, digital camera, gps, mp3 player, xm radio (last.fm rocks!).... lots of crap will be replaced by the same functionality in mobile phones. the end consumer benefits, as does the planet.
All stupid comments aside, I took a look at the left port (speaker) and mine had been clogged with several months' worth of grime... I took a small plastic toothpick with a fine point and cleaned out the grime then blew the tiny holes out with air, and the volume has significantly increased. I'm going to clean the grime out of the speaker holes and see if that helps, although I rarely use the speakerphone option. Side note - will we ever have voice dialing????
Umm... Ace Hardware has been offering something like this since the 80s... the keys dont slide out, but they fit in the same space, they cut them down, and they flip out... and it's somewhere under $20.
If you bought your iphone with a credit card with price protection, you can get your price difference back through your credit card company... usually in the first 90 days after purchase.

With that said, I love my phone, although I'm not an apple fan... still, it's the best phone I've ever used and I'm glad I got it. There are things it absolutely needs: more memory, a slot for a memory card, a removable battery, a much better camera with a flash, and drag/drop for putting files on the phone... god, itunes is just awful.
I hope someone from Virgin or other airlines (this looks nearly identical to the US Airways system that's being installed in 2008) are reading this!! I hope that if this goes into all planes that all magazines are removed, to save weight and thus fuel costs. Carrying 6 pounds of magazines around in every seat of hundreds of thousands of planes each day has get to cost a fortune in fuel... and isn't too great for the environment either.

I almost think that the seatback entertainment systems aren't necessary with most everyone having their own laptops and handhelds. Just think, in about 2 years when all phones are iphone-ish and you can use wifi on a plane, just tell passengers to browse to the inflight webpage with their phone or laptop and now you don't need magazines or seatback systems - saving another 10 pounds per seat. Saving fuel is the goal here.

Now if only all the passengers could lose 20 pounds off their butts... and on shorter flights you could grab your drink bottle and snacks before you get on the plane, you could save a lot of storage bins and heavy fluids and ice too... more weight saved!
This was released just before Cox starts to download Tivo software onto all of their DVRs - the Tivo interface is suppose to come to Cox DVR service by 3rd quarter of this year.
Most of us have cases for our iPhones... so we don't scratch up the phone itself... but you can't dock the phone without taking it out of the case... so this dual dock is dumb.
To use gmail and google calendar with ease...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
