And it's only going to get worse. Under DRM schemes, you don't "buy" the music per se, but instead "rent" the ability to play it (and the ability to play it depends entirely on the discretion of the company you purchased it from).

I'd like to to think that one day, we'll look back at DRM schemes and laugh, but it's seeming ever more likely that we'll be looking back at 2008 DRM as being relatively "free" in terms of media playback.
I think it'd be pretty neat if you could integrate it with a messenger client, and have it display messages when you're running fullscreen apps, like games or movies.

Just out of curiosity, if you haven't "committed [your]self to the iPod/iTunes universe", what makes you qualified to make those comments?

For $189, it probably won't be long until someone mods one to include a loudspeaker that DOES scream out "bargain" to you.
This is assuming that airport security haven't detained your electronic devices indefinitely for "security" reasons.
Here's hoping this'll be another nail in the coffin for DRM schemes.

"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
