Wait... doesn't Vista support HD? And doesn't it have media center built in? I think I have a plan.
Jefferson just ripped that line from John Locke. Though I feel like that sort of thing has to happen when all the cool gedgets are released in Europe before America (the freaking birthplace for most computer-related junk!).
Anyway, it was just a matter of time before someone tried to hook up with TiVo and actually limit content. But why don't they make a viewing limit? Be able to watch it twice... even one viewing would be ok since it would be like watching a show live. If it's really that important of a an episode to keep... it's not impossible to use some sort of video capture device. If the signal is going through a wire at anytime before the final media is displayed, it can be rather easily intercepted for less noble uses. But that's just a pain and seems to defeat half the purpose of TiVo. What can ya do...
Yessir, Mr. Erinford sir!
Don't most hd-dvd players do the upconverting for you? So why would you need an old dvd player and an hd-dvd player? Sounds like a worthless add-on.
thoroughly?
It's not going to make companies shift to more energy efficient dogmas. They just won't have a stand-by button. I don't believe I have even used a stand-by for my tv, or anything. It's such a pain in the butt to use it on Windows (unless it's for a notebook). See people, Complete Socialism is not the way to maintain rights. They get rid of Stand-by buttons and free travel! Go USA!

P.S. This Penn Station is good!
That's just sweet.
So what exactly is the big deal? I mean.. good job Cornell, but who cares about public satelite positions?
Batman Begins???
The point is... where do you draw the line? Where do the benefits overcome the costs? Driving in itself is not safe. It kills people. It'd be safer if everyone flew everywhere. But they'd have pilots, and it's not like we're going to get professional taxi drivers for every person's morning commute. If you want to solve car deaths fix the driver, not the car. If we went only by studies to secure our roads, then middle-aged black women and asians would never drive (I know that sounds terribly racist, but then so was the study I guess). The freedom to drive is not one to be restricted, but rather appreciated. If people want to make mistakes, let them. The benefits of cell phone use in cars is immeasurable, the price of life is invaluable, the appreciation of danger is essential. Make wise decisions, not stupid laws.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
