@cfhuk lots of homes that have an alternative energy supply like solar or wind also have a "battery bank". It's basically just a bunch of car batteries hooked together to maintain a constant and stable flow to the house. Some of the bigger ones I've seen are bigger than a chest freezer and would only power a house for maybe half a day to a full day on their own. This is probably going to be huge.
@CharlesLeaf I was kind of hoping they would just release they're boot loader into the wild so that anyone could get it for free. It might be sour grapes, but I would do it.
I love Google and I fully expect Android to be the dominate phone OS in a few years, but I don't see anything that special about this phone. What does have me excited is to see if Google has something much larger in mind with the introduction of this phone, like introducing a new business model in the cellphone industry.
At this point I think Apple would be better off not releasing a tablet. There are already some tablets out with a slew to follow next year, and Apple doesn't seem to do very well when they are "one of many". If they could have gotten it out early this year they would've had another iPod/iPhone product, but having to release late . . . I don't know I'm sure someone will still buy it.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
