GIMME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sony is just too big for its own good. Sony still makes the quality products it always did, the problem there are so many products out there it has diluted the brand. They need to get back to that exclusivity of owning a Sony product. It used to be that instead of having 25 camcorders or Blu-Ray Players or whatever on the market they would have one or two but those one two would have the latest and greatest tech inside and the competition couldn't compare. In recent years they have tried to compete with the Samsungs and LG's for the Wal-Mart and Sam's crowd.

They need to stick to making quality cutting edge products for those who can afford them. That's what made Sony, Sony.
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Nintendo is releasing what the PSP was 3 years ago?

Why is this even news?
Uh yeah...in all DTV transmissions, audio is carried via Dolby Digital.
Can't wait to get home tonight and check this out. They made it very clear down here that DTV does not mean HDTV. Basically stations don't have to go HD they just have to transmit their signal digitally...which means 5.1 surround on all channels and better picture, but that picture may not be 720 or 1080p. I'm hoping most channels have gone HD also...I'll see in about an hour.
I can clear up the confusion on this, Immersion, Inc. is basically a classic patent troll. They had a broad patent on haptic tech. They sued Sony and Microsoft in 2002 for the dualshock tech that was released in 1997 (in japan).

The patent was very, very broad and had Sony and MS fought it they could have easily won. Instead MS decided to bribe...cough...settle with immersion for 26 million and a stake in the company provided that if they got a settlement from Sony MS would get a cut. Sounding fishy yet...let me simplify

MS basically financed immersion and this court case to:

#1 deter Sony from using the tech, because they knew Sony would fight the lawsuit since the patent was so flimsy (mission accomplished)

#2 So if and when Sony settled they'd recoup their cash and still reap the benefits of Sony's lack of rumble (mission accomplished)

smart move by MS...yes...dirty move by MS...yes...business as usual in corporate america...absolutely.

This is great and all but doesn't Sony still have the full resolution of the PSP locked out for all media except what comes off a UMD and aren't the largest memory sticks only about 8 gigs?

I'm not being sarcastic I'm seriously asking because these two reasons are why I bought a 32gig ipod touch to watch video while I am on the go.

I still love my PSP and use it alot for portable gaming but Sony could have really hit a home run had they opened it up a from the get go and put 16 to 32 gigs of internal memory on board.
man I'd kill for that game. I am a Robotech fanatic, if only they made an English version.
Did I miss the part where the ipod Touch got a price drop? With the Iphone being 299.00 for 16gb and 199.00 for 8gb no way they can keep selling the touch at 499 for 32gb and 399 for the 16gb right...RIGHT!!!!!!

Oh well guess I'll bite the bullet and shell out for a 32gb Touch, no way I'm waiting until January of 2009 to get my hands on that puppy...now to figure out which store has the extended warranty where you can return for any reason...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. You know just in case the touch gets a price drop between now and this time next year.
"sales will continue at Gamestop.com until stock is depleted"

...really no loss for Microsoft, the Zunes they have will be in stock for at least the next 3 to 5 years. So it'll be like they never left.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
