Realistically, I'd at least want Software based PS2 backwards compatibility. I suppose that could still come in the future via firmware updates... Didn't Sony say something about wanting to put PS2 games up on the PSN store?
Unrealistically - as in, never going to happen - I'd want the PS2 BC to be completely region free. Being able to play backup discs would be nice too.... not so much for piracy.. though I know that's the reason they wouldn't do it, but to play modded Undub version of some Japanese games that get dubbed to the US with lame voice acting.
Well... I'm pretty sure they were ALL just joking around. If he had REALLY broken the iPhone by stomping on it... I would have laughed pretty hard... then thought he was utterly crazy.
Got mine today... ordered through apple.com and Fedex guy brought it EARLY. Install took about 40 mins... no input needed on my part... it was very clean and straight forward. On my little over a year now Macbook Pro, I had no issues. I only had to update a couple programs to get them working on Snow Leopard. Also, the command-line hack I used to get the good ol' 2d dock in 10.5 was still intact in 10.6.
WoW seems to run a little smoother, Finder is WAAAYY zippier, Safari is MUCH less laggy. Even the loading of itunes Album art is quicker.
Overall it's a great upgrade. The only thing I want is for Perian to come out with a Quicktime X version... that way MKV files will work in Quicktime again. Mplayer OSX extended works just fine for now though.
This is ridiculous... This is why I'll always have trouble adopting windows back into my life. I think I'll stick with Snow Leopard. That ONE version of Snow Leopard.
I would have liked to see a Geforce 9800m in the laptop as opposed to the 9600m. The 9600 is probably fine.... but they should have put more horsepower into that beast. Especially if I decide I want to play WoW or something on it, once in a while. Seems like a real nice laptop though. I welcome the 8GB ram capacity and the uber battery life is great. Now if only I could afford it.... Lol
I may pick up the new iLife, mostly for the new Garage Band and music lessons. Already a big fan of using iMovie for school projects.
I'm also hoping for a Mac Mini/Apple TV Hybrid Media Center type device too...
Overall, I didn't feel anything spectacular came out of the keynote... it was.... okay...
@ Greg 360 is a good example. After the first batch of bad 360s, Microsoft should have learned their lesson and gotten rid of the problems with the 360. Yet 360s made long after launch consoles still go bad. Modders have long identified one of the major routes of the problem being the X-Clamp used on the heat-sink. There's also the issue of the ridiculously cheap/loud 12v fans being ran at a measly 5v. The 360 is indeed a good example on Microsoft's engineering. Nice ideas, nice features... but like Windows and ZUNE, buggy and unreliable as hell. Every company has a few missteps here and there. Apple had a lot this last year (at least Steve had the balls to fire the people responsible). Microsoft needs some major management restructuring. Problem with MS is they don't need to get better. They make too much money with Windows. That won't last forever though and either MS will go under one day, much like the stupid American car companies, or they'll end up completely restructuring their company; much like Apple did back in '97.
I think the point is... if you REALLY disagree with Engadget, then TRY putting together a good argument as to why you disagree instead of just stupid name calling. Why the heck would you criticize someone for having an opinion? They stated very well why they didn't like the Storm very much, it's not like they are just bashing it blindingly. People just get upset when they disagree with your opinion. These people are simply immature and NEED to grow up. It's THAT simple. All too often, so many websites with news, reviews that allow you to post comments are full of dumb, incoherent name calling. Instead of doing that, you should post a counter-opinion. For example, "I've found the clicking screen on the bold to actually feel great." That would actually be a lot more informative and useful to me than, "Endadget is full of a bunch of Apple fanboys who are just upset the Storm has some good press." What???? How??? Explain??? Is what they've said about the Storm untrue??? HMM???? I'm GLAD they posted this article. Keep going Engadget.
Playing with a Touchsmart at best buy the other day. IT's a nice looking interface, but plenty of things I would want changed.
1) MAke the screen a lot smoother with some kind of coating. I hate how my finger rubbed up against the glass, it didn't feel very smooth, like the iPhone (Which feels like the back of a blu-ray disc). 2) Tighten up the multi-touch mechanics. At first I tried putting several fingers on the screen to try and push the pictures across and it screwed up. Only worked well with one finger touch.
as mentioned by several people... those other pops and bands arE NOT guns... it doesn't shoot out randomly in several directions... Those are just boosters popping to keep it stabilized in one spot in mid-air.
As a geek, who's lifestyle revolves around the heavy use of a computer and the internet altogether, I'd totally agree with the guy. I've seen the EEE PCs at Best Buy and as cool of an idea as they are, I found myself incredibly underwhelmed by them. The most I could see myself doing is checking e-mail on one of them and maybe a couple RSS feeds and then getting off it.
That being said, I think netbooks are perfect for A LOT of people who do a lot of traveling and have VERY BASIC computing needs. I'm not sure how big that market is because computer's seem to become more and more prevalent as the years go by. I think if your place of employment provided you with a desktop at work and you performed all your major work-related computing task at work and none at home and just wanted a netbook for that really basic stuff, then yea.... they are for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
