@Bowsa
Why? My sister has comcast and now I have it for free on her account!
@chainring
There are checks and balances on all kinds of abused invasions of privacy.

By the way you do realize Sprint customers are paying for this and law enforcement is not. Soley on that basis it is a activity that stands for some critique whatever conclusions you might finally make.

Also you are incorrect in asserting that federal warrants are the only method at obtaining the data.
@Scape3d
this isn't about bank robberies, at 8 million it is obviously about other things. And since it is about the investigative process, not something after conviction and 80% of people investigated are innocent, it isn't about criminals in the main but about innocent people.
Second not "all telecoms do it" so whoreishly. Verizon has fought it. It also reflects Sprint's general attitude toward its customers privacy and its customers rights which tells you something about how they might exploit all kinds of private data for commercial reasons as well
@Brad Hubbard
Brtad in fact Verizon has been fighting this you can tell from court filings. Verizon has filings fighting it and Sprint has none. Verizon maybe doing it but it is save to say they are not facilitating it so willingly and whoreishly
Uah Rick, my guess is you don't know much about the smartphone market. there is a huge market for front facing qwerty on WinMob. I geuss you are an iphone fanboy and used to paying three times as much for less power and utility. Good for you.

This is a great handset. and Unlike your iphone can be used in Europe with ANY sim.
Activated last night on my SERO! -- no problems so far. Sweet.
Yeah but Javendan piece in teh Guardian attacking the Telegraph is also full of errors.
Javendan claims Ahmadinejad's mothers name Seyyede is only Moslem and that is plainly false, is a generic honorific and it and forms of it are used by Christians and Jews in the near and Middle East.
Indeed, El Cid, was born a Christian in Spain, with no Moorish and no Islamic ancestors, and the Cid as anyone who knows Spanish history is a form of Seyid.

farMoreover, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's mother is a Seyyede. This is a title given to women whose family are believed to be direct bloodline descendants of Prophet Muhammad. Male members are given the title of Seyyed, and include prominent figures such as Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei. In Judaism, this is equivalent to the Cohens, who are direct descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses. One has to be born into a Seyyed family: the title is never given to Muslims by birth, let alone converts.
I bought a Navigon dedicated unit a couple of months ago. Easily and by far the worst and consistently craziest routing I have ever seen, I have gone to all the various GPS forums and everyone has the same complaint and no amount of tweaking will fix it. On sites like GPS Passion you can see people posting examples of a route with Navigon routing vs TomTom and Garmin and it is amazing, it is like navigation routing engine is stoned.
As far as the real time traffic system -- forget it, it blows, is not accurate and it is not as if it doesn't work 10% or 30% of the time -- it doesn't work 90% of the time.
@kessando, I don't know who you are agreeing with since the way Palm is handling its OS and created a closed OS/hardware pocket is hurting Palm. You have to consider Palm is not Apple. Apple has a monster brand with a positive brand image and people are willing to put up with the lack of choice caused by the captive OS.. Sales of Pre have DROPPED every month since release for a reason.
3/4 of the people I know who got a Pre returned it.
Bambi, thanks for the corporatw spin. May I suggest trying it somewhere where people donn't know anything and not on Engadget mobile, whereeeveryone here knows why Sprint has lost millions and millions of custoemrs, and why Verizon and ATT have gained tens of millions in the past few years.

Peopel are leaving Sprint in droves and have been for a reason. That is why price INCREASES such as forced "Everything" plans will mean more losses of customers for Sprint.

I have a three line family plan. The corresponding "Everything Plans" represent double the price per month for me and for huge bunches of Sprint users.

You can't compare Sprint and ATT or Verizon as you just did since they have twice as many customers and that means you use half as many minutes.

"Apples for Apples Sprint actually gives less service.

You have to answer the question of why with the numbers you gave, which you seem to think are compelling that the rest of America doesn't find them compelling and leave Sprint anyway?

The fact is forced plan price increases from 50% to 100% in customer cost with teh Everything plans is a HOT topic on Sprint discussion forums and has caused a large amount of animosity since there is no legitimate reason.

What is the reason why an Android phone would use more resources than a windows mobile handset? (answer: none, it doesn't.)? The power users choose windows mobile. yet they get to use the most advanced windows phones, touch pro2, treo pro, touch pro etc on SERO, Friends and Family, Free and Clear, etc while there is talk of doubling the costs of tro customers who wish to use android?????

Sell the line somewhere else, we are talking about a proposed huge price increase for customers.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for the best geotagging camera currently available. The most important feature for me is the accuracy of the GPS module, so any hard specs on satellite receiver would be really useful. Thanks for your time!"
