Wow, harsh comments. I thought the PT was a decent looking car and the time I rented it, it drove pretty nice.

Any model that sells 140,000 copies a year needs to be saved as it is a cash cow.

If you want to ditch something, get rid of the Compass or the Sebring. Now those are loser vehicles.
That list does confuse poor cars with poor names. Although when you say lumina I think flashlights.

Roadmaster, Charger, Element, Fiero are all pretty cool names.

How about really bad ripoff names. Mercury had an XR-7. Mazda releases an RX-7.

Or that GM passed on Acura and went with Geo for its import name and then five years later dumps that too.

And by the way, Jerry Flint over at Forbes is a very good automotive journalist. the regular editors might not be but he is pretty sharp and witty.
An EM-50!! Now that is one sweet ride!
Bland, boring, and just plain dull. This looks like a 1998 Contour crossed with a Sonata.

We are not missing out on anything by not getting this sleeper in the States.
I think the Element is a pretty nice vehicle. No it is not for everyone, but neither is a Hummer or Mini.

Some here call it ugly, I think it has a certain appeal- much like the old Jeep Cherokee, I like boxy.

Now there is really ugly like the xB, or the Dodge Nitro, or Challenger concept, or Focus, or GTP, or the grand poobah of ugly...the Pontiac Aztek.

I have rented the Element, Exploder, Escape, Trailblazer, Equinox, HHR, and Jeep Commander. By far the best two were the Element and Commander.

The Element was fun to drive and super functional. The Commander was also a winner.

To compare the HHR looks neat from the outside but has horrible interior, ergonomics, and driving. The Exploder and Trailblazer are just yuck.

The Element is really pretty cool, but if your idea of cool is an 1988 Trans-Am maybe it is not for you.

Nice idea. I give them credit for doing something that GM cannot-wish is think and dream.

However, I find the cars look rather lackluster. Too much like a Lumina crossed with a Cavalier. Either go retro or push the design into the 21st centruy. That was just too late 90's for me-actually like the recent GTP-just too lame.

I really like the idea of the Chevy heritage. I loved the look of the SSR. It was bold. Take that style to a sedan. Yes, they tried the HHR and it looks good from the outside, but has a crudola interior.
GM has alot of problems, but most could be fixed by good leadership that could greenlight good cars. Too many ho-hum models and not enough hits. Pontiac G-6 is a pretty decent car. The GTP, the Chevy Monte Carlo, the Impala are not.

Ford has two very good cars in the 500 and Fusion (after renting them both I think they beat the 2006 Camry). If it could market anything other than trucks it could start a turn around.

GM needs a couple decent cars, but they seem to design more crud than cool. I was hoping Lutz could get the cars but only the Solstice seems to be buzz worthy.

Why is it my Ohio built Element is a good vehicle but old Michigan built Chevy was garbage????
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
