Want a smaller adaptor! Make me easy to carry! *WIN*
Not necessarily. Though the linux kernel supports different architectures, the specific patches for different distros don’t - you’d need to fix them. Also the repositories for software are specific for each architecture. Dell f. ex. built its ubuntu for the mini on the lpia (Atom optimised) architecture - you need to convert packages built for normal x86 to use them with the lpia built kernel.

Since i don’t know if (but don’t think that) this is even x86 compatible, it’s at least not trivial to use a different linux. But if this processor keeps its promisses other distros might add support for its architecture.
To be fair, the link (first three words in the text) leads to an engadget article that decribes how the mouse works - video included. Doing this again in the review would be a bit redundant.
The bug in the e1000e driver has been around for some days in kernel 2.6.27-rc1 to rc4. This is not ubuntu specific, but a problem of all upcoming linux versions like ubuntu intrepid, suseLE 11.1, fedora "rawhide", see here f. ex.: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-announce/2008-09/msg00017.html

In versions 2.6.27-rc5 (sept. 23rd) and newer module e1000e is IMHO blacklisted by default. But you better check that yourself before you install any alpha on your system.
The lock seems to be between the VGA-out and power button.
Maybe tosh found a niche for this rather standard spec netbook at last and is going for the growing market of left handed users. Those who are normaly burning their hands.
I never understood this whole notebook frenzy. For the same money you can get a very decent desktop pc.
Would you be so kind to inform us what this Leica has in common with a Lumix at all?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
