Robots released in the wild, destroys stuffed animals; humans next?
I personally, like the idea:
The iphone is an mp3 player, right?
The iphone is a phone, right?
But bieng a phone first, you sacrafice the ability to listen to your mp3's via a good pair of headsets (save for bluetooth, whos price thus far outwieghs quality) This adapter lets you have the best of both worlds: your own headphones with the ability to use the as a phone headset.

Shure just did a craptastic job at marketing them...
Just an FYI:
Up untill recently, most major films recorded all location sound onto Minidisk using sony's "famous" (yeah right) ATRAC format, and was among the prefered audio formats for film. Then it went from mini DVD to HDD as the prices for those formats fell. The point? Most of you couldnt tell one pile of crap from the next. If youre going to hate somthing, at least learn about it first.

... atrac is kinda meh though from an audiophile POV. But then again, so is mp3.
On the contrary, just about all lithium batteries are volitale enough to explode. you can see here http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/19/ipod-shuffle-wins-battle-with-knife-wielding-owner/. Granted the idiot stabbed the battery with a knife...
I can see it already... "local teen breaks new tv with Wii-mote, sues sony."

Pretty awesome concept though.
Bottom line: People are working towards renewable energy. Yes, some of it it overpriced, and most of these intergratable ideas really suck, but we're moving in the right direction. And to all who spend their time complaining about mediocre concepts, try using that creative brainpower you waste in your whining to, uh i dunno, come up with a better concept! Youre all nerds, right? Quit being lazy and do somthing creative!

... although i must say, this concept does kinda suck. ^_^
Not that most you computer/car guys really care, but FIRST ACT is a really, REALLY crappy guitar. I cringe when people want me to tech their FA guitar... its just not playable.
On a more relative note, i agree that a free ipod, even if its a shuffle, would have been more fitting to go with that "ipod freindly" aux port. Im curious as to who they were trying to market to. seeing as most of us musicians are really, pretty broke.
House in HD.
Tact is for those who arent witty enough to be sarcastic.
I may be suffering from momentary retardation, but i noticed that they mentioned the file type "can be almost ten times as big as equivalent MP3s, widespread availability of lossless music may convince consumers to step up to higher capacity iPods, which would seem to be in Apple's best interest. "
Now, if the file type is about 10 times as big, that would make it the same size as a PCM WAV file @ 16bit/44.1khz... point being, why go with this lossles technology if you can just get the original WAV?
Dunno. if i misunderstood somthing, please point it out and call me a flippin retard.
I thought you people were like, i dunno, smart/hackers...
this is to all the people who make their retarded assumptions loud and clear:

Li-ion/li-polymer batteries are;

1: sensitive to heat
2: require a special protection circuit for charging
3: combust when its contents are exposed to oxygen
4: are KNOWN to combust VIOLENTLY when improperly designed chargers are employed.

Heres a video of what im talking about here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3690260570423705609&q=Li+ion+batteries

The reason youre seeing the "Burning Mac" problem on some, but not all macs is simply, Apple can get these batteries from dozens of manufactures. Two notebooks with consecutive serials could contain batteries from two manufacturers. Don't be fooled by the battery casing that has the apple logo; the real batteries (the cylyndrical objects you see where the battery was in the pictures) are inside the casing and as i said earlier, are purchased from someone else; not made by apple.
My theory:
If apple recieved said batteries from a diferent manufacture, they may have not changed the protection circuit to match these batteries. The batteries may have overheated due to the protection circuit not "knowing" these new batteries, Causing them to swell, break open and combust in the presence of oxygen.

Thats just my theory... i you wanna belive this is all a conspiracy formulated by mad cows and bill gates who secretly hate Apple and are attempting to smear their name, then you probably deserve being an idiot.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
