To add to all the other..."Why US only" complaints

Not available in the Swiss store either ... Boo!
I have two DMA2100s and an Xbox360...this is bad news for Media Center. For those that don't get it...

1. Xbox is too loud for anything but a dorm room
2. Media Center Extenders stream LIVE TV - Very little else does this that doesn't take a lot of effort to set up.
3. The extenders that were available barely made it to Europe (excluding Xbox and Linksys).

I agree with other commenters though MS has completely lost the plot with Media Center, with poor support for extenders, no in house quiet solution to match the Xbox and just appalling support for video formats beyond MS-DVR.

Thanks MS for another dead attempt at the living room. Thanks Linksys for the two boxes that I guess will never support HD now...what a waste.

The time is ripe for Apple to jump in and steal the show.
last time I checked, the zune wasn't even available outside N.America...for the rest of the world sat in Europe and Asia, that makes it pretty tough for the zune to be a "World Beater".

MS only has a chance once it is prepared to offer it's ecosystem globally...and that goes the same for it's other home products like Media Center which also gets poor product support outside the US.
Instaled RC1 on my MBP a week ago using bootcamp. Seems to run fine. My intention is that my MBP will become my portable gaming rig when I just can't be bothered to lug my windows gear.

Seems to run Company of Heroes and Red Alert just fine.

I also used the bootcamp partition to make a Parallels environment and that also runs fine. I even tried Red Alert in there...works, but not as smooth as Boot Camp...but then I didn't switch to the faster graphics at that moment 8-)
That was my impression too! Add the volume of the wall wart and the router and it's not small at all!
With Apple NOT announcing anything netbookish (...and in fact going completely the opposite direction), I wonder whether we'll see a sudden surge of Netbooks running OSX

I know I'm seriously thinking about it, only time and the ski season is stopping me... ;-)

...are there stats anywhere on this?

...about the Quality part, I've always found Compaq notebooks bomb proof ;-)
That does look like a very sweet little machine...and in the absence of anything in fruity flavours,

I may have to buy my self a...

I have a pair of Shure in ear something with a 3 in it (They cost ~ $125). Great sound, but, the cables are crap.

I've used them daily for the last 2 years (that's about 2.5 hours a day every day)

- The connecting plug had to be replaced because the wire frayed inside the sleeve (standard headphone cable issue)
- The wires go up and over behind your ears - here, the wire insulation has gone brittle and is splitting leaving the copper braid visible. Before long I'll have to replace them.

I'm pretty sure though that I'll be buying another set of Shure's - Main reason is that I like the full on plugged into the ear approach because it really blocks out ALL external noises, the Shures also have replaceable wax guards and a fairly large hole that the sound comes out of. I looked at others and suspect that for me they'd clog up pretty quickly.

I have a Powershot S40 and an Ixus IIs. Both are more than 4 years old and have been dropped onto hard surfaces in their time and only just in the last week has the IIs mysteriously died.

I'll be buying another Ixus to replace the IIs
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
