Sounds like a couple million Americans still need to join a debt 12-step!

Um, no.... When every major carrier is is rushing to get the Touch Pro2 out before Xmas and Samsung has the Omnia 2 and Omnia Pro on deck it proves that WinMo is still where the premium money is spent.
I'm using iDialer for Google Voice on my Touch Pro. It'll work on this, too. That's the beauty of WinMo, fee apps controlled by the user community.
Really? WinMo is worse than feature phones and Android? You're smoking the Cupertino's finest grown. I have a Touch Pro 2 with a ROM that's not bloated by the carrier and running 6.5 underneath.

I'm sorry to hear you have a Diamond, that phone sucks, unlike the Touch Pro. But I'll be in line for the Diamond 2 or TP2.

Comparing any of these platforms to WinMo is like comparing an automatic car to a stick. Yeah, it may be easier, but you have far less control.

And I'm not a hater, I bought my wife an iPhone. (Because she's a basic phone user, doesn't need to multi-task and is willing to accept whatever user experience Steve Jobs dictates.)

Really? I've been using 6.5 with TouchFlo 3D and it's fantastic. I'll put it up against any OS, any day.
You're actually contemplating the Instinct II over a Winmo phone like the Touch Pro2 or Touch Diamond2? Insane.
Unproven OS with no apps or WinMO? Hmnnnn.....
I'm a winner.
Last week I traded in my Diamond (as I knew I would) at the Sprint store and got the Pro at Best Buy 20 minutes later. The battery life is much better, the silver back and trim makes for a very slick and professional looking device and the keyboard is as good as everyone says. I have seen no lagging problems and the screen is hella responsive.

This is the premier phone on the market right now, hands down. Maybe the BB Storm can compete, but I doubt it.
It looks irrelevant compared to the HTC Touch Pro
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
