a) pay more to watch less (most content you have is 16:9 and the 21:9 scaling is pathetic),
b) hang a monster on the wall (it reminds you of your grandma's projection tv)
c) love using gadgets that are slower than a brain-dead koala

you can opt to get it from the other side of the atlantic.

On the positive side, you can use the trip to hang out in one of those famed coffee shops in amsterdam. Mind you, you wouldn't visit a TV shop otherwise :-)

my toaster doesn't do USB. nor does my washing machine. no does my shaver. yes, my PC does, so does my phone and my music player. guess what, all these usb thingies crash occassionally. ever heard of a toaster that crashed?or a washing machine that crashed? keep the usb, my friend. i prefer my morning toasts crisp, not crashed.

Looks are deceiving, or perhaps (Philips might be hoping) looks make up for a few of the several deficiencies. The TV takes ages to startup, and even after it shows video, it takes ages before it responds to the remote control (nearly half a min). The TV is supposed to do some picture browsing, but you'd be damned if you try. All it does is show long lists of filenames (wow, how intuitive). And if you dont remember that dsc_0027.jpg is that pic of your kid taking her first step, well, you aren't smart enough to own this TV. And then there's the distraction of ambilight - you pay for some cheap piece of LED sticking out at the sides, throwing pointed and feeble arrows of light into open space, adding little or no enhancement to your experience. Not only is the light undiffused, it is feeble and changes less frequently than video, overall, making your TV look like a regular TV with a cheap xmas tree by it's side - instead of a "beyond the 42 inch" experience that they try to sell. If you wish to throw your money, there are better options.

New HD triple tuner? So you can watch the crap times three, and in HD?
And no netflix, no hulu, no vudu? Sony, if you want to make me believe that I want this set...pay me.
