Rough/dirty/fast comparison

USD$16k for a maxxed out Apple.
USD$15.2k for a maxxed out Dell.

Apple - 2 x 30 inch screens / Dell - 2 x 24
Apple - 3TB / Dell 2TB
Apple - 2 x Quad Cores / Dell - 1 x Quad Core
Apple - 16GB RAM / Dell - 8GB

What a load of arse.
Based on the comments above, the average age and iq of the negative posters is about 3 on both scores.

I'm pretty sure that the box does everthing Apple said it would. Sadly, you lot are complaining about the things that IT WASN'T DESIGNED TO DO!

It's a little box, that happens to plug into TV to extend the media capabilities of your Mac, or the iTunes part of your PC. It has a hard disk to cache some content.

It's not going to blow you, make you toast, paint your house, find you a girlfriend or teach you how to pilot a helicopter.

"Your computer is the center of your digital life. Your TV is the center of your entertainment life. But what if you want to watch movies, TV shows, movie trailers, podcasts, and photos from your computer on your TV? At $299, Apple TV brings iTunes to the big screen."

Using iTunes, what part of the above is not delivered by this little box.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE BOX, DON'T F***ING BUY IT.
Does the MC+XB360 cache local content for use when the PC is off?
Dear Retards,

For the love of god - this box allows you to watch stuff when your Mac is off! Plugging a Mac into the TV is what many people are trying to avoid! There is very little in the way of media extenders that can do this.

Signed,
One of the few who read 'gets it'.

To #3 - couldn't agree more.

Bought a pile of crap Linksys about 2 weeks back that refused to play ball. Found the instructions for dd-wrt micro and now it's working like a champion.
Of course it's bigger and better - it's the UK.
"and breaks new ground with iTunes server functionality"

In what way exactly? Like the other NAS enclosure that already does (and has done for ages) iTunes sharing?

Ridiculous and Slingshot,

Fair point, I didn't make reference to the 'pimping' or 'overreporting' (you choose which, as I am not sure that we'll really ever know) of the information via the site, and for that I apologise.

The guys here at TUAW are no doubt excited and interested (and perhaps commercially interested), along with many of the readers - but I guess it could become overload for those who are not.

I don't mind too much about about the irrelevant articles that come my way, at least it shows that the site is busy and up to date, etc.

I've started reading the site through google reader. Saves me time. ;-)

So the real question becomes - TUAW, what are you getting for all the reporting, or is it just becuase you are keen.......?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
