Nury Tec's THP2 Training System makes the Wii Fit seem a bit childish {Engadget}

May 14th 2008 4:17PM What has Wii Fit got to do with this? Not like this concept isn't a few years old.
This does basically the same as my Garmin Forerunner 305, apart from the fat measuring scale, and that the Garmin has the GPS built into the watch, i.e. no extra pod.
You can get the Garmin for $215 at Amazon so the price difference is not that great.

UK researcher finds Bluetooth more of a privacy threat than RFID {Engadget}

May 9th 2008 8:53AM I have not heard of the possibility to listen to bluetooth conversations or network traffic. As far as I know no tools exists which allow you to crack the bluetooth encryption.

UltraBattery developed to drive hybrid cars to the next level {Engadget}

Jan 18th 2008 6:01AM You had to come, didn't you? There is ALWAYS somebody that comes with this exact same comment every time there is a story about electric/hybrid cars.

Voltaic's new Generator solar bag can charge a laptop {Engadget}

Jan 9th 2008 7:38AM I suspect he means "in full sunlight" and the 14.7 W figure is correct. 14 Wh is very low for a full day in sunlight.

Samsung reveals first 30-nm 64Gb NAND chip -- and a bit of skin {Engadget}

Oct 23rd 2007 5:50AM I like girls showing off their silicon as much as the next guy, but I can't help thinking that mixing them into product announcement for NAND chips is a bit like oil and water.

But maybe I am just being sexist and the babes are actually the scientists behind the development of the chips..

Samsung's 40-inch 1080p LCD TV panel -- just 0.39-inches thin {Engadget}

Oct 22nd 2007 8:16AM Am I the only one who thinks that the picture within the TV frame has been photoshopped into it? When I look at the high res pictures it kinda looks funny, and the EXIF data for the pictures say "Creation software: Adobe Photoshop CS2 Windows".

Adobe develops 3D camera technology, dubs it computational photography {Engadget}

Oct 9th 2007 11:14AM >"It'd be really cool to be able to take pictures of the far side of objects."

Just attach a long stick to your camera and put a mirror on the end.

Hitachi's 8m:1 contrast ratio hybrid LCD on display at CEATEC {Engadget}

Oct 2nd 2007 5:55AM Oh boy.. Does this mean that the contrast ratio is now the TV equivalent of the camera megapixels, i.e. a somewhat relevant attribute has now been taken over by marketing as the ONLY relevant measurement of picture quality.
