Hi kamujin,
The "label" Apple "slapped on" BSD is actually OSX's interface.
What MS slapped on the hairball that is win32 is actually a webbrowser, and a bad one for that. This is what makes the difference; Apple is a user-centric company that has managed to stay true to it's user-friendliness, even with unix at the core. From my point of view (and I have used Windows since 3.1 and macs since sytem 7) Windows is a lost cause. No network required. Drop some 500 to 1000 hi-res images into a folder. Set the folder to icon view, largest size. Copy it from anywhere to the desktop or vice versa. Close your laptop before the new folder has built-up; it never will, now.
The new Windows Media Player looks nice, still sucks. I dearly pity any of you using Windows XP, I do. Microsoft is clearly getting into this business for the money. So all of you early adaptors and fans: let's see how much you gonna pay for your downloads in a few years time. Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
