I think that your wrong about no one wanting an MP3 player. While most people here have iPhones... there are plenty of people who don't (I being one of them).

I refuse to go to At&t and T-mobile is even worse... because of this, there is no way for me to get an iPhone... what's the next best thing... an iTouch that way i have all the apps, music and media options... and i get to keep my current phone, plan and carrier.

I do agree that most people WITH an iPhone do not want a iPod Touch.... why would you? they are pretty much the same device, that's the whole point to having an iPhone.

Bottom line there are plenty of people who don't have an iPhone but want the functionality... and while a media pad/Itablet would be nice... i'm not dropping over $500 on a large iPod Touch.

Being a Dj for over 10 years and knowing that 90% of (hiphop/trance/house) dj's use SSL (serato scratch live) i can tell you as this stands right now, completely useless.

IF they develop it, it might become more interesting but it would still need a turntable of somesort.

A cool concept.
Is this different from the whole mild hybrid idea? it seems that this version "hybrid" gets better gas milage increase than the "mild hybrid" cars.
The car companies keep saying that people won't buy or don't by or even don't care about fuel effecient cars...

There aren't any options!! Finally we will start to see some options and i bet that you will see more and more people adopting these fuel effecient vehicles.

Think about it in 1908 the Model T got up to 25 MPG - here we are 100 years later and the average car on the road gets 20 MPG... what's wrong with this picture, what's REALLY going on?

check out this site... i have plenty more i could send you too but i'll start with one:

fuel-testers.com/ethanol_fuel_benefits.html

from the site - - -
benefit 5:

"The farming industry is booming now due to the need for increased production of corn and grains, used to produce ethanol"

..."Did I mention that farming industry equipment is exempt from using ethanol fuels?
They produce ethanol but refuse to use ethanol in their engines. Doesn't sound right to me...
One reason given for farm equipment E10 government exemption is because farmers correctly believe that ethanol fuel will decrease the useful life of their gas-powered equipment, which they expect to last for 20 or more years - "

Q: Does E10 result in lower gas mileage?

A: Yes, slightly, experts said.

i could go on... i'm just saying that people should do their research and make their own decisions.
and p.s. the "mild" hybrid on average increase gas milage a whopping 1-2 MPG's great job American Car companies!!

If it was able to shut off during coasting then we might be able to see some real increase in mpg's, even if there was a way to shift into coast mode or a button that you could push -

but i digress...
I believe that this it somewhat the idea of the "mild hybrid" i could be wrong... or the American car companies could have screwed it up... but when idling it shuts the engine off and everything runs off an extra battery...

i know that in order for the engine to shut off that you have to have the brake depressed for X amount of time so there is no way to "coast" with the engine off, but like some have said i'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for them to mod it so that one could coast.

I think the problem is in the danger that the average driver can't talk on a cellphone and drive at the same time... so trying to explain how the whole coast thing works would make their head explode!
Bonehead is right Seth

-less energy equals less milage

-farmers who PRODUCE ethanol refuse to use it (or a blend) with their own equipment!

-you say that the price is cheaper... really? think about the tax credits given to the Oil companies and farmers (and gas stations who are encouraged to use blends) where does that tax money come from... that's right TAX PAYERS

-think about what happens with the ethanol corrodes parts of the car... they have to be replaced... that's not cheap, and costing more money...

more things are coming out showing that the exhuast and process to grow is more harmful than regular gas.

it's a win-win for gas companies...
they get "cheaper" gas (more money) and they see you more often at the tank (less mpg means more trips to fill up... meaning more money for them) oh and all while looking "environmentally friendly"

think about who's really winning out here?
it would be cool but paying $12 a month just isn't worth it.
could be something like the fitbit. the ds already has a pedometer game/program ( i know because a lady at my work walks around with a fat pedometer in here pocket that she later plugs into the ds.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
