Hulu coming to Roku video player? {Engadget}
Jun 2nd 2009 9:38PM Maybe what happened to Boxee happened because deals like these were in the works and the legitimate contracts don't mean as much when companies like Boxee just go ahead and give that service away? I mean, I'm sure there was a dollars and cents discussion with Roku if this is true while those discussions never took place between the Boxee/Hulu/AppleTV my dad was running.
Ask Engadget HD: What's the best digital TV converter box? {Engadget HD}
May 27th 2009 8:23PM I have the DTB-H260F as well. Got it at Circuit City a few years ago. I absolutely love it but paid something like $180 at the time. If someone is to start paying that kind of money I'd say they just go a bit further and invest in an HDTV.
As for the converter boxes for the budget minded; the DTVPal works well enough for my neighbor (or so he tells me). Doesn't have buttons on it so he's got an extra remote to keep tabs on but he swears by it. He got one of the few $40 ("free") units so he wouldn't complain no matter what though, I'm sure.
SlingPlayer coming to Pre "at or near launch"? {Engadget}
May 22nd 2009 5:58PM Might sound silly but I've got my xbox 360 connected to my slingbox so I can watch the netflix movies through that on my blackberry.
Sensor-laden kokoro adjusts playlist to match the rhythm of your heart {Engadget}
May 21st 2009 2:10PM Are BPM of songs on an ipod normally known to the device?
I really like the idea but think I'd prefer to choose song for ranges of heart rate. Like, when at resting, shuffle the songs in this playlist, when I'm jogging (whatever heartrate range that may be), shuffle this playlist. I guess I'd just be worried that I wouldn't have that many songs that beat at my heart rate for the amount of time I want to be doing cardio and I'm not a fan of my songs repeating during a workout.
Great idea though; currently I have a generic playlist and if I wind up on a stationary bike for a while as I wait for the weight area to clear out, the songs I chose beforehand don't always match the new activity so I can DEFINITELY see this as useful.

See now, you are assuming that because something costs more, it's better. Whatever side of the fence you are on, you're an idiot.
Automatic commercial skipping comes to Windows 7 {Engadget HD}
May 17th 2009 5:18PM I was wondering about that, too, until I realized it was the only 2 hour program on the list.

Nokia, cheesiness featured in new Star Trek movie {Engadget}
May 10th 2009 4:53PM I've always associated that ring tone with Alias (another J.J. Abrams property), by the way, so the Greg Grunberg connection makes it that much more awesome. Good catch! I didn't recognize the voice but did think it was familiar (or, at least, out of place). For a minute there, I thought Kirk's mom was Felicity until I recognized her as Cameron from House (So I guess this means she's been in things with both Harold and Kumar! Good for her).
@Amun You are correct; WWIII and that explanation were given in First Contact. I watched it yesterday... I feel like such a nerd right now :(
Older Slingboxes won't work with SlingPlayer for iPhone {Engadget}
Apr 2nd 2009 1:25AM I have NEVER seen an Engadget post with as much venom as this one. Can't say it's not warranted if this is real but I thought this kind of emotion was reserved for format and console wars only.
Blockbuster hamstrings Total Access rental plan {Engadget HD}
Mar 23rd 2009 10:11AM I also figured this was how it worked.
I have Netflix already so I never really looked into this but it seemed like if the movies you got in store didn't apply to your limit, you could have wound up with quite a few movies. Like, if I had a 3 movies-at-a-time arrangement and could swap them out at store without it affecting my online queue, I could have 6 movies at a time. 3 from the store and 3 mailed out.
Why wouldn't they be tied together? Or am I missing something?
