They deserve nice things too! Just because they can't see, doesn't mean they're born yesterday or chop liver. Their friends could probably see and hearing nice compliments is a definite ego or happiness boost.

Ya this is a double edge sword though. I mean it was unauthorized use of the schools computers, and resources like electricity, replacement units and ISP bandwidth. Although the administrator shouldn't have made such a comment saying "We don't support E.T.", because it shows that you're not allowing your students to learn and grow. SETI is still a pretty important subject which is why it's so big in the network.

I believe it doesn't really warrant a termination of someone's job, because the program isn't as malicious as the school admin has stated.It could easily be removed from the computer units...and quickly.

And to mcdoomington: ya, the fact that this guy stole equipment does tip the scale very hard in favor of the schools action.So I don't know, I just didn't like the comment about E.T.

No they don't... you're probably referring to RAM chips, the OP is referring to SD cards with the iPhone, iPod and iPod Touch models.

Granted you can get a Card Reader to plug into the computer models, but that's as useful as putting a triggle block into a star hole.

Wow....the "savings" is really mind blowing. However I can only see people who are smug enough to buy it, are blinded by their own smugginess to think that these are actual "savings".

Apple should really feel embarassed about these "savings". It's a joke and to be quite frank, it's making the consumer look stupid if you actually buy into it. Christmas savings (especially black friday savings), is about saving more then $150 dollars. This is pretty much student based discounts, just substituted for black friday.

But this is very typic apple propoganda. When they compare speeds by their own products, by saying "Oh, it's 2.5x faster.....it's 1.5 times faster....it's 2 times faster." pointing out insignificant numbers to make it look like they have something incredible to report with numbers. They do the same here...

An original iMac price is $1,599.99, now if they were to put that next to their "bargain price" of $1,467.00 looks totally insignificant, so they have to put the $132 "saving" in red because your eyes will immediately see $1599.99 and $132.

I really hate Apple's business practices and their own smug approach with how to sell and market things. I'm not ripping on their OS or Hardware, because I use it at work, and it's great to use. But their business practices are as terrible as Sony's.

With all the problems that I'm hearing with AT&T, I'm surprised that Apple had the balls to come up with a commercial to defend AT&T.

Ya, this is also how I see it in laymens terms (sp).

The circle will capture an area of what is in that circle. Once it's been captured, it detects the differences between the screen cap and the live data. Thus it will see that there's a changing object that it should look for, and that anything additional added to the live video like dust, static non moving objects, or a hand, will automatically be ignored. It probably also detects pixel changes...like matching the colors of the textures.


Hopefully there's a app that will be released to the masses for this.

There's a website out there that did the same thing but used two cameras to motion track a 3D point to point skeleton frame. It used some of the same concepts where it automatically tracked all the joints of the person without a suit or additional sensors. The program used two cameras (front and side) and managed to key the entire body very precisely. This is also the same concept as the new XBox 360 camera natal project, where the camera motion tracks all of the user's key joints and maps it to the game model.

I'm very excited that this is being developed and that hopefully can be used to create motion tracking for your 3D characters in like Maya or 3D Max.
