Shark-safe wetsuits? Would different colors help? {Gadling}
Apr 28th 2008 1:32PM Sharks see contrast quite well, so for the sake of argument, I would think the olive or blue suits would be your best bet. However, as niro said, when a silhouette, color doesn't much matter.
Some more info here: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/isaf/color.htm
The fact is that the CA & Baja coast line is prime great whites territory, yet there are few attacks. I think we need to give the GW's sensory systems a lot of credit - they are grabbing a lot of seals, and not people. If you look further into a lot of the attacks, most of them occur in bad water visibility (including this last case) - it's a case of mistaken identity. If you were going to worry about anything, a far better tactic would be to avoid water with less than 5 feet of visibility.
However, given the number of shark bites compared to the number of surfers and divers in the water every day, you should be worried about your commute to the ocean instead.

Wine Regions Shifting {Gadling}
Feb 1st 2007 1:27PM There was a similar article I read while in Portland on Oregon Live: Northwest forecast: dramatic change
It goes into detail about the whole region, but part of that includes the wine country.

Nov 13th 2006 6:53PM The R300 looks very sweet. I'm tempted to just get someone to order me one and import it myself. WXGA screen, dual core, 1-4gb ram, 80gb drive, 5 hour battery, and under 3lb? I want one.

Swedish Tacos {Gadling}
Oct 6th 2006 1:01PM I've learned the hard way that decent mexican food has yet to be replicated any place other than the border states. Everywhere else they try to make it too healthy, or too tex-mex/white-bread-american (tomato salsa and iceberg lettuce makes baby jesus cry). Either way, a disappointment.
From the article: "My meal evoked a Taco Bell in Burbank; the filling tasted like a spaghetti meat sauce with chopped lettuce." Oh god. Those poor people only have Old El Paso as their mexican food example. :(
