Palm's Treo Pro in the wild, probably not fake {Engadget}
Aug 15th 2008 2:18PM Over the years I have yet to find a Windows Mobile phone with "snappy response" (HTC Typhoon excepted). My Treo 750 is almost always bogged down and lags when opening contacts, dialing or hanging up. With 3G enabled it drains the battery in under 18 hours on standby.
Palm and Microsoft has had their chance for my loyalty, I'm moving on to a BB or iPhone.
Far Crysis: PCs will weep at Far Cry 2's system reqs {Joystiq}
Aug 9th 2008 12:51PM Uhhhh almost all PC games have graphical settings that let you run it on a large array of hardware. FC2 won't require all of the settings on high.
It shouldn't be that difficult to save up for a new PC every two years ($1000-$2000) with a decent job (not retail or food service). Once all the items needed to play console games are added up it approaches the cost of a new PC.
Consoles
Accessories
Sound System
HDTV
* Feel free to multiply the cost of the HDTV and stereo system by the % of time used for gaming if you're a stickler who insists they need TV for the latest episode of crap reality TV).
Dell explains NVIDIA GPU issues, throws out BIOS updates to help {Engadget}
Jul 26th 2008 12:20PM Correction: should NOT stress a modern video card.
Dell explains NVIDIA GPU issues, throws out BIOS updates to help {Engadget}
Jul 26th 2008 12:18PM Keep in mind that if you don't put a heavy load on your GPU, the temperature is less likely to fluctuate quickly. Running Office, browsing the web or multimedia uses should stress a modern video card.
So far this has only been announced as an issue with the Nvidia Geforce 8400m and 8600m Dell and HP laptops. Before wrapping your laptop in a towel and trying to run Crysis, call tech support and demand a replacement. This news was released in an Nvidia press release about three weeks ago.
And for anyone cursing the companies for a defective product, it happens. Nvidia, Dell and HP all did not want this. Nvidia's (NVDA) stock plunged 30% in one day after they announced this issue and the resulting $200 million write off.

5th Ave. iPhone Who Farm campers leave store lacking iPhones, dignity {Engadget}
Jul 13th 2008 1:33PM If you really believed in freedom and liberty, you wouldn't care how other people spent their time. Some people enjoy being the first to have an exciting new product. It's in our social nature to fit into the mainstream culture as quickly as possible.
Would you like to force everyone waiting in line to work on a cure for cancer or create the next artistic masterpiece?
That being said, the reason there are these six hour lines is due to the forced in-store activation.

Artificial kidney enables "dialysis-on-the-go" {Engadget}
Jul 11th 2008 3:26PM I can't even imagine how the TSA would react to someone wearing one of these.
Artificial kidney enables "dialysis-on-the-go" {Engadget}
Jul 11th 2008 3:25PM Oh no! Not another kidney dialysis gadget article. Engadget has turned into a medical blog for UCLA and there's no way to filter it.
(I'm just a little tired seeing the anti-iPhone coverage comments today.)
