Who would buy this? not for looks but for pure concept? If you guys were to make anything like this it should be a keyboard, since 90% of the time I'm using office software thats where my hands are -_- poor idea, poor execution, be glad you're getting at least some publicity on Engadget.
If the versions are going to be stripped down to the basic features
you might as well as just get Open Office. I'd rather have a learning
curve for free, than an incomplete version of Microsoft Office. That
said I'm sure people will still buy MS Office over Open Office,
because lets face it, Open Office kind of sucks in comparison other
than it being totally free. And the users who will like the stripped
down version of MS Office more than likely will have never heard of
Open Office (e.g. my parents). Open Office will continue to remain
dominant amongst FOSS enthusiasts and unemployed college students(me
:D), and MS Office will continue to remain dominant is corporate
environments and home offices. Look what you did, now I'm rambling.
Apple only has to write drivers and make software for a limited amount of hardware, and Microsoft has overwhelming support from 3rd party hardware manufacturers. Very few hardware manufacturers actually write drivers for Linux due to it not widely in use on the desktop. So it's completely understandable that not everything "just works" with Ubuntu. However I think that creating a way for Canonical to generate revenue from Ubuntu will allow for them to have more devs work on making things "just work," which I think is exactly why they're offering Ubuntu One premium accounts. I personally think that its a great idea, and once I get my System 76 laptop I would be more than willing to support them by getting a premium Ubuntu One account :)
You use Outlook 2007 and you're saying you wouldn't pay up to $40 for an email client?
Microsoft has been charging for an email client for years. I'm not saying I'd personally pay for Postbox or Outlook, but when you compare the price of the two Postbox is a pretty good deal... As long as you keep Thunderbird 3 out of that equation :-P
How ironic would it be if they did all that and she just fucking drowned?
Sounds like a decent machine, and people going back to won't be confused because there is no Ubuntu option XD But there isn't really much that sets it apart from other 15 inch laptops
I'm sick of these Apple fan boys thinking that Apple did everything first. They didn't make the first touch screen phone, google it! Maybe if you dug your heads out of Steve Jobs' a** you would be able to see that not everyone is trying to copy the all mighty Apple, other devices are allowed to have touch screens and slick interfaces too. The P3's interface barely resebles the iPhone's, I'd say it's closer to Android's if anything.
Really, I think people can live without a web browser on their MP3 player, I'm pretty sure that's what a computer is for? Idk about you but whenever I'm within range of a wifi hotspot I usually have access to a computer :-\

It has nothing to do with the sensor bar, which is why they mentioned it. The wiis original sensor bar isn't able to track 3d motion because it uses an IR signal to track where the wiimote is pointing at the screen. They replaced the sensor bar with a 3d camera and now it looks like they can track 1:1 motion(or close to it) in 3d
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
