How do you know the computers weren't set up to go to sleep after a certain amount of time? Are you claiming that screen savers in general waste power? If not, why so in this case...

ridiculous
I wonder what Mrs. Einsten would have said if the guy installed the pipes screen saver. Would she have him fired over that? If not, what's wrong with SETI@home?
If they've really fixed the responsiveness issue, I don't know why this player isn't considered totally awesome. It seems loaded with practically all the features you could want in an mp3 player at a reasonable price and has X-Fi, which according to some reviews makes it the best sounding mp3 player out there. What's the fuss?
The Core i9 will not be so impressive in terms of bang for yer buck. With 6 cores, early tests show it's about 50% than a similarly clocked i7, yet will cost almost 4 times more at $1000!! For that price, you should get about 14 cores (in terms of price/performance ratio, which to be fair is never linear). I'm curious why they don't just make dual CPU consumer systems instead of overpriced processors.
According to wikipedia, this CPU will cost G. Expected, but still ouch.
Simulating a brain is only going bring limited insight unless you simulate a body and virtual world to go along with it, or a robotic body for the real world. Otherwise, even if they produce a perfect simulation of the feline brain, it would be as if the brain is suspended in a jar of fluid, with no realistic sensory information coming in or useful commands going out to make the brain work the way it's supposed to. Of course, they're well aware of this, but it's another big challenge that needs to be addresses, and it's almost as difficult to do well.
120Hz is just the monitor's refresh rate, ya doofs. You can be looking at a static image, and the technology will still work.
A lot of complaints about ibuypower floating around on the web. And, as the article points out, this computer has only marginally better specs than Asus' G51J, yet costs a G more. I just wish the G51J had a blu ray drive.

"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
