How would a design like that fair in the rain? What appears to be the air filter is totally exposed to the weather for a start...
yawn........

Wake me when they have something more than a web site for this stuff please, how long has it been since this stuff was 'announced'?... (by the sounds of how many releases on EPIC & no word on Scarlet thats likely at least another year or two away......)
Yep its still a wobble cam, check out 4:34 in the Aussie clip, when the bull goes past the gate/fence takes a hit and you can see the vertical lines in the game bend as they go backwards.

The camera is a nice little step forward for Nikon and I love the fact they are not trying to push past 12MP in the non X models (much prefer clean 12MP than dirty 18MP) but Canon are still clearly leading with video in DSLRs.

I'll wait for at least a D4 to upgrade my D3 for photography, or whatever model it is that finally offers the video features of the 7D in a Nikon body.
I've had Nokia's for years, probably 4-5 different models, back to before the 8008 I think it was (the slider from the matrix). I've dropped the lot from a good metre or more onto hard surfaces like concrete and tarmac. Sure they all get scratched a bit, but never did ANY function of the any of them stop working. My wife still uses my old Nokia (the one that has buttons in a circle it looked like they tricked out for the latest Terminator movie), its great if you drop it, it just seperates into about 4 pieces that clip right back together (designed to come apart for battery replacement and new covers etc). Dropped that more times than I can remember, still fighting fit...

2 weeks after getting an iPhone, it dropped 30cm onto concrete. The screen didn't crack, but the touchscreen function broke on one side of the screen.
I've been on the msg boards and have experienced first hand how rude and obnoxious Jim and his co-horts can be. If your not the blind following the blind fanboy you are treated with contempt and disrespect...

All I am saying is don't wait for this product because it is far far away in a distant galaxy. The pressure in value large sensor cameras is now back on RED from standard DSLRs Not everyone wants REDCODE etc, just creative flexibility which is what DSLRs are staring to offer in the real world at lower prices than RED could dream of offering...
It will be at least another year before they release anything (don't believe anything they say, they have yet to keep any actual release dates), then it will only be the basics, and then it will take another 12 months before it works properly...

RED SHMED, nice in theory, don't hold your breath...
Can it recognise and play BPAV folder structures from Sony XDCAM EX HD cameras yet?
How about MXF exported clips from Clip Browser?

Where is your integration with your semi-pro solid state cameras Sony? Its time your departments start talking together more about how you can enhance each others products, make out lifes better and sell more products...
"And here I thought 1080i = 720p..."
Very different, temporal vs spatial resolution (with 50i/60i vs 25/30p)
720 50/60p has temporal resolution as well, being much closer to 1080i but no Nikon offers 720 50/60p
fellas, there is no denying the 5D is being used by alot of indy & film producers, but as a % of video producers as a whole it is not widely used, especially outside the US where 30p is next to useless...

The term video producers encompasses a wide range of markets, many which have no need for these abilities, or even HD (take for example corporate induction videos etc, they just want bog standard SD...)
in reality very few video producers shoot 720 24p, most shoot 1080i or 25p or 30p (for easy PAL/NTSC DVD conversion) & only use 720p for 50/60fps

Sure 24p is trendy but out of the 100+ professional video producers I know and work with, maybe 2 or 3 might have ever shoot 24p

Until Nikon offer 1080 24p and 25p in camera I'm not interested in actually spending money on DSLR Video

Having said that, the only 1080p spec BR supports is 24p...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
