I am writing to complain about the Pop up ad that loaded over the whole screen and blocked me from viewing anything. That is ridiculous. TUAW has gone down hill and this is the last straw. I came to the site today to see some new toys from Apple, but instead I was assaulted by your ads. No longer will i come here to this site. I have enjoyed it for a long time, you can even see the numerous responses/comments I have posted as proof that I am not a troll as some who come in are.
I downloaded Camino and I like it, even more than Firefox3. Thanks for the post.
Peace
I personally haven't had the same issues as you have witnessed. But i will say that the logic board on my iBook G4 quit working 3 months after my 3 year AppleCare was up. That made me a little mad. I had to shell out $320 in order to get it fixed. I had two weeks left in a semester of grad school and it broke in the middle of writing one of my papers. Had to start over. Slightly irritated and no mercy from Apple, even though I paid a lot for the AppleCare and took really good care of my portable.
Also, I know that certain Apple store employees are not very good employees... they cheat the system. So, When I read what happened to you, I thought about those employees. Sad. Apple needs to do some closer checking on its hired help.
I've often wondered why people don't just find the server (or authors) and hack it, infecting it with other viruses or mess up the server itself. Is there anyone willing to take their disgust with people who create viruses/trojans and attack their server? After all, I doubt the feds would be to upset over someone taking down a site that is doing malicious things. Its just been a query with me. Or is my idea too much Hollywood?
@Mystic - a lot of apple fans were/are still upset, including me.

Now the real issue, no matter how great the news is for a relatively small amount, the fact is that the amount was ill gotten. The means does not justify the end.
I'm kinda ashamed of that sneak in.
I loved this post. I thought the humor was nicely placed. Unfortunately, yet again, it looks like those who are way to "green" (personality trait, look it up and correct your issues to be more socially adapted rather then inept; notice that I am speaking of those who demonstrate the more severe issues). Keep up the good work and don't let the overly jealous party pooper individuals get you down.

I must say, it's been a while since I last posted anything on here. It is not because I don't read anything on here, I do. Since wanting to post some replies lately, I have found myself not wanting to do so due to the lack of maturity in the comments forum. Case-in-point, refer to procrastinatr and GadgetGav in this posting. I might be out of touch with typical flow of our society in its sociological interactions, but there is a huge loss in etiquette, common courteous behavior, and a rise in an apparent need for an individual to open his or her mouth for no other reason other than to be heard like a small child does when he or she notices no one paying attention so he or she screams, or interrupts an on going conversation between two or more adults (who are mature) just so they can have some attention. Obviously, the child is hungry for attention and does not know manners, so he or she says or acts in a way that is not conducive to proper dialogue and is thus in need of development. This is all because of the lack of true social interaction due to maturity level. When an “adult” or teenager acts this way, it is not the hallmark of maturity, it is the hallmark of a person who has not been taught respect. The person is thought to be rude, inconsiderate, illogical, and in need of a spanking when they were a child. An atmosphere that is more than likely contributing to this person’s lack of proper social interaction is the amount of time alone and not out interacting with others on a personal level. I could go on, but I don’t want to take up to much space here. I'm tired of reading rude, inconsiderate, illogical, and abusive comments.
@13
They could be doing what the original makers of "flip 4 mac" did and offer the program free for a short time before their buyers of the program takes over their script and sells it. They might have been bought out and as a sign of love towards us as consumers, they are doing something really nice.

Thanks DivX.
Honestly, this seems a bit crackfiend-ish. I have a mac and I like Apple, but this makes me a little mad. Sad times.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
