I'm having the same issue as Justin after three attempts. That plus the keyboard issues I mentioned in my last comment - slow keypress recognition and backspace key "sticking" is enough, I'm waiting for a while longer...

and frankly, nervous about this hack now. These guys are playing nice and are warning people what they're doing, the next website won't be, and this will need to be addressed by Apple soon.
okay done. I just jailbroke my Touch... though now my keyboard is acting all wonky - slow typing and backspace sticks and deletes everything. time to try to restore and try again maybe.

also - are there any respected app sources? where does one find the "basic" kit for Touch - Mail, Maps, functional Calender?
It'll be interesting to see what Quicksilver makes of these new tools like Quick Look.
Oh great, now comes the fun user experiments to figure how to beat the sniffing algorithm. I'm guessing we'll start with people mirroring the image or doing various sized watermarks to create enough discrepancy, then move on to color manipulations or pitch shifting from there.
Quite impressive. Of course, now that Apple has all those multitouch patents it'll be interesting to see what else they do with them. It'd be nice to see a cheaper 30/80Gb straight iPod with a simmilar interface, or perhaps even the mac tablet.

a couple of things on the iPhone - I'm curious to see what kind of support they'll have for 3rd party apps. Since it's "running OS X" does that mean you could install additional features - perhaps Skype? I think if they at least opened up the widgets for developers to write for, there could be a lot of great functionality added.

And what happened to the "two batteries" that Kevin Rose claimed was going to keep the phone battery seperate from the iPod battery? - will either be replaceable? (from the photos the black area on the bottom looks promising.) No true road warrior will get one of these phones if they can't swap out a battery on the run.
There's also Real Viz's V-tour (http://imagemodeler.realviz.com/?language=EN) that's doing simmilar stuff
I think Wii and this controller could potentially have a great impact on the gaming market as well as the large group of non-gamers they hope to attract... except that the very nature of this controller will VASTLY limit the ability to market the gameplay of the Wii that they need to achieve market penetration.

Gaming kiosks are now a nessesity for any gaming console to break into a market. With Wii's departure from conventional game controllers, it's going to be even more important for them to get kiosks out there for people to play and understand the new mechanics required. But how on earth will they be able to demonstrate the wireless nature and movement of the controls without risking damage or loss at the kiosks?

Current kiosks have controllers all but bolted to the displays, but with this new generation of controllers coming out, you're going to need to manipulate the controllers. I'm frankly more curious to see how Nintendo or Sony marketing will handle THAT.
Odd... I suspect I may have done it first.

One of my first gigs 6 or 7 years ago was working for a IT consulting firm where we'd tape interviews with our consultants and stream them along with the resume to companies where we were trying to have them placed.

It's a great idea to highlight speaking skills and demenor to a potential employeer without forcing them to sit through a akward half hour interview with someone they know within the first 5 seconds they aren't going to hire.

That being said, if you DON'T have a good TV presence, this is a horrible idea, if the clips are over produced, the hiring manager will believe it wasn't genuine or coached by the recruiters. But most importantly, seeing the faces of the potential hires during the pre-screening phase of a postion search opens a company up to any number of discrimination complaints.
Admittedly I approach any of these devices as a video professional and gadget inclined person to begin with, but while I bought the PSP as a gaming device, I've found that I use it for it's video functionality the majority of the time. I won't be buying UMDs movies as their nature locks them to the device - but with software, the PSP is the perfect adjunct to my DVR, allowing me to catch up on TV shows during my compute. I agree current business models are flawed, but there is certainly a market here for the right distrubtors or content producers who can use this new medium to thier advantage.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
