Stan- With a small camera in your pocket, you risk losing it while extracting it/ putting it away. Also, the thing I like about this camera is that if I'm paddling back out after a wave, and I see a buddy riding one, I can quickly snap off a picture. I guess it's a question of quickdraw vs. undo velcro, take out of pocket, aim and shoot. I haven't smashed my face on it. yet.
I think you miss the point. The camera is marketed toward sports like surfing and snowboarding, where you need your hands free to actually take part in the sport, then snap off a couple of pics of your friends. I have the 35mm version and I love it for surfing.

"I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I want a 13-incher. I need something with a great keyboard for typing, as this will mostly be used for note taking in class. I am absolutely smitten with the XPS 13, but I'm afraid that with its age Dell is going to give it an update soon. Any advice for someone in my shoes?"
