Can´t wait for this PDF distribution over bit torrent.
I think I'd prefer a 2nd computer on the same LAN as the laptop.
@Endadget

you don't drive much do you?
actually, other companies have done this before.
however, in the long run it makes more sense to have a small desktop pc + a laptop (with optional synergy software) instead of proprietary connectors that run out of support and leave you looking at a very clumsy paperweight.
My current home PC is a 17" Compaq laptop. I don't move it away from the table too often and I can imagine doing the same with this Acer or whatever transportable PC will be available in a couple of years when it's time to retire the Compaq. If I do this every year spending £400 for the hardware I get more performance per £ than I would by buying a £800 or £1200 laptop every 2 or 3 years.
@Tikiteko:
You can always leave the computer laying on the desk instead of standing on it.
One advantage of being flexible would be that it can also be folded, thus allowing reading devices to be smaller. Imagine a mobile phone that has a perfectly normal shape but has a secondary ePaper-type screen that rolls out - like in the good old days of the Romans :)
Track pads were once a strange peripheral just like this. look at them now...
you're right. nobody should ever buy anything until they are 100% sure there is or will be any other product that is better.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
